Opinion on Background Colour for picture

Got a new picture in the post and playing around with a backing colour as its much smaller than the frame I have. Been interested to hear what people think works best...

I like the white the best. It's kind of like you've frame part of the wall that just so happens to have a picture on it.

Definitely either the white or brown, but since white has a lot of supporters already I'll chuck my vote in for brown.

Brown for me, goes better with both the picture and the frame in my opinion and the border of the actual picture, you get nice differing shades of brown.

Definitely not the blue though.

White or the cardboard coloured one. The blue one is very abrasive and detracts from the middle.

I really like white but the brown brightens the artwork and draws the eye in. While white looks great as the overall frame/wall combo, I think the artwork becomes a dark rectangle in the middle rather than the focus.

Thanks for all the help guys! Totally agree about the blue (I've used that on another pic now even though I'm still not sold on it, I'm rubbish at this stuff).



Leaning towards the brown, but maybe a smaller frame is worth thinking about - at the moment I'm limited to what I've got lying about the place...
