Proper ****ey this year, possibly the worst selection of gifts I've ever witnessed since I heard my granny speaking of stockings full of nuts n' oranges back before she was dead.

Spent £20 on my sister-in-law's birthday prezzie (it was on the 17th) THEN spend another £20 on her for Xmas. Have already spent over £20 on my bro's birthday prezzie (it was in March) and then spend £24 on him for Xmas, and that was all on "cool, thoughtful gifts". So, that's £84 in total for combined bday/xmas prezzes.

So, as I'm also a December birthday (the 18th), they 'consolidate' all my Xmas/bday gifts into 'one unit' and I get:

      1. Darksiders on Xbox 360 (Deadly Premonition was my first choice, this my second, I was hoping for just both, nothing else, I *really* wanted to open DP on Xmas day)

      2. A Stylophone (absolute ****e, the stylus-heavy Korg synth on DS drops logs all over it, and I've had that over a year. Erm, did I ever mention to anyone I wanted a Stylophone? Did I?? Even in the 80s, did I??? No. Why, God, why????)

      3. A 'Carnivorous Plant' grow kit (in other words, a f*cking Venus Fly Trap, something I'd never want, basically a f*cking seed with packaging around it)

Wouldn't give that much of a f*ck, 'cept they're pulling in £37k+ between them and I'm busting a gut pushing £13k max with bills to pay. I know this might sound bitter, pointless, pathetic, but I ALWAYS think about the gifts I get them, everyone, always consider, always splash the cash, and always get back gifts costing *more than slightly less*, yet this is the *ultimate* exemplar of "The Law Of Diminishing Returns", these were the ****test gifts I've ever had from them, I'm shaken, son, and I'm gonna be getting distinctly lo-budget come next Christmas.

Not only f*cking that, I get boxers, a dressing gown and a Nike hoodie off the girlfriend, all functional yet entirely unimaginative gifts. I put LOVE into hers. Baaaargh!!!!

Apols for such blog-like whinging, I don't give a **** if I appear to be an ungrateful, spiteful cad/sad wanker, I just *NEED* to vent.

Bah, at least I've got Darksiders (but I can get it for -£5 now...)

Very hard to keep alive though. Mine all went black after a few months. In that time they ate one or two flies by my reckoning, so at least they experienced a full and rewarding life.

They are, however the ones that come packaged up like that are extremely hard to get going.

My first one was the best, it ate a wasp once even.

Well, my Christmas stash was a lot better than expected, so I'm a very happy Spooky! So, in no particular order, I was given...

XBOX 360 Slim 4GB - (It's not really slim is it?!) Given to me a few months back as an early Christmas present as the girlfriend didn't know if she'd bought the right thing or if I'd actually want it! Took the 2 games that came with it to CEX, who gave me ?64 for them in exchange so got myself 5 games I actually wanted... Demon's Souls (Black Phantom Edition), Bayonetta, Uncharted 2, Darksiders and Infamous.

Farscape Definitive Collection DVD Box Set
                        Alien Anthology Blu-Ray
                        Sky Crawlers DVD
                        Vinyl Figures (awesome!)
X-Series Sony Walkman 16GB (Bought by myself with the help of a generous present of ?90 of John Lewis vouchers so only had to stump up ?39 as it was in the sale! I bought it purely for video, as my A-series is my music player of choice... just a beautiful, full, warm sound).
                        A Pac-Man Alarm Clock
Mug with a handle like some weird 6 legged tarantula
                        T-Shirts
And the usual wine & chocs & other miscellaneous yum yums!

                        Seriously happy Spooky!

                          Vanquish
                          Fallout 3 GOTY

                          Trousers

                          Socks
                          Cookbook x 2

Not a bad lot really - this year though it was all about the nipper.

I was given Deadly Premonition too - had been on my Amazon Wish List for months so very pleased. Only other gaming related thing was a molex Y splitter I'll need to clone one of my Xboxes HDDs when I've plucked up the courage to try replacing it with a larger one.

Most of the other pressies were of the usual OK-ish but not essential type. But I did get one thing I've been happy to use in the cold weather over the last two winters. a couple more pairs of long-johns. If you feel the cold, believe me, your legs will love you. Not exactly stylish though so not recommended if you're going to be stripping off - erm, for any reason
