An asteroid impact would have to be huge in order to permanently destroy life on the planet, otherwise things would start again. That's not to say there aren't other planets out there with human life.

Religion's prime message is to love. Although this is now long lost thanks to people throughout history falsely attempting to document this message for either good or ill. Now, all the religions are simply hell-bent on destroying one another to prove their superiority on what they know is best. The current mindset of the human psyche is set on a course for self-destruction, and nothing short of a true miracle can change that.

      Very sad but very true.

Yay! Another thread that's going to descend into a religious debate!

Well, that's a sweeping generalisation if I ever heard one, Dave!

Having said that, I was in church on Sunday morning and can concur the entire service, from the sermon to the hymns to the notices, were all geared around destroying other religions to prove superiority on what they know is best...

the featured that TV on BBC's Click last year. There's also only 1 camera in the world that can capture an image for the TV. Actually, the camera can capture more than the TV can display.

"The public may be uncomfortable with the implications of people being able to use this without needing to have a sight line to the target - you could see this having terrorist uses," said Ms Quintana.

lololol. Normal bullets don't have terrorist uses, but better stop these ones.

Just saw this in the news

Berkeley News is UC Berkeley’s central source for news and information, providing insights on research, arts and culture, and student life across the university’s unique and diverse campus.

Basically, they've wired up a persons brain to a computer, they've said words to the patient and then reconstructed said words from the impulses from the brain!

They will only get more accurate. Scary and impressive

Watched that on the BBC's Horizon a few weeks back. Basically scientists take select DNA from a spider and mix it with the DNA from a goat, effectively engineering what they call a 'spider-goat' in order to harvest silk from the goat's milk. Synthetic biology really creeps me out and reminds me how stupid we are as a species. Who knows what the consequences are if these synthetic creatures and synthetic micro-organisms (which are being engineered in their thousands) make it outside the lab and start interacting and breeding with their organic cousins.

It's taken billions of years for Nature to get things where they are and then we come along and start fiddling with it, thinking we can improve it. Ridiculous.

I was reading an article about the GM foods in america, there is a very commonly used Sweetcorn in the US that has been genetically modified to contain a biocide, enough of it to kill any insects that eat it.

Tis controlversial as they don't know it's effect on humans.

Even the milk in America is genetically modified. Indeed unless the carton categorically states it's not GM milk then you can be pretty sure it is. It's frightening considering there's a lot of speculation that it leads to various cancers.

In the UK we introduce extra hormones into the cow so it can produce more milk per session. Cows milk is for cows!
