    Supermarket Home Delivery Shopping

Does anyone do there grocery shopping online and have it delivered? I see little reason to keep trudging to the supermarket week in week out when I could order my weekly shop on my iPhone. If you have your shopping delivered, would you recommend it? How do you find the service overall? do they hit there delivery targets when you book a delivery slot? It's probably an urban myth, but I hear they don't always pick out the freshest produce for you, whereas I'll always pick the suff with the longest sell by date when I'm shopping. That said i imagine its easier to stick to a budget online, im notoriously bad at this in the supermarket (mmm nice cake!)
Lastly does anyone know if Tesco will deliver stuff to an address other than the address your card is registered to?
Your views would be appreciated especially if youra Tesco shopper.

My local Asda and Tesco usually are very good. It really depends on the store, not necessarily the supermarket chain offering the service.

I get milk with at least 7 days on, same with bread.
The only thing I find a negative is the replacements if something is not in stock. Especially if they put a more expensive item in and charge you for it. (IE: Asda Brand Jaffa Cakes for 40p and they replace with a big box of namebrand ones for £1.90 as they are out of stock)

Also, be warned if you pay by debit card, they reserve the total you order when you place the order, then when you receive the groceries (with the potential higher cost if you've had any substitutes) they'll actually do a separate charge with the reserve still hanging on the card for a couple days.

I always use a credit card to make sure I'm not without two sets of money.

So if something is out of stock, it dosent just say 'out of stock' it gets added to your basket and forfilled with a potentially higher priced item without your consent??

You don't have to accept the replacement though. You can just turn it away and get a refund.

In my experience Tesco is the worst of the three for deliveries. They didn't give us the freshest items and it wasn't well organised when it was delivered.

Asda are ok. Not too bad with their dated products, but seem to be prone to errors and unsuitable substitute items.

Sainsbury's are the best by a clear distance. Fresh items, all items packed in a sensibile way and good substitutes. Always on time as well.

Sainsburys are good BUT you always get short shelf life products, as thats how they role in general
Other than that only had one let down in the snow drama, some drivers are grumpers but I guess in comparison to all the people that would make me rage in the IRL store its not so bad.

I've wondered about doing this too. I'm pretty lazy, and when I go food shopping I end up spending half my budget on food it want to eat there and then.. lol

Do Tesco just throw it in your garden in a smashed up cardboard box?

I use Ocado sometimes. Really good service. Only thing is, you can't choose loose veg. Only prepackaged amounts.

We freeze our milk so expiry isn't a problem.

Tesco don't do it anymore, if you order Tesco value beans at 3p and they substitute for Armani beans at ?3500, they price match for you!

Only problem can be say beer, where you want a case which is on offer for say ?15 for 20 bottles but they sub for the same brand in smaller quantity., for example 6 bottles for ?7. They'll supply three packs total comes to ?21, they'll drop the ?1 to price match but you've only got 18.
Only way around it is to write a note (this is something you can do on any item in your basket to say - no subs or only change for similar qty etc).

If you do a search you can come across voucher sites which you can take advantage of as well.

Suppose it depends on where you live etc but we always get ours slightly early or bang on our delivery slot.

                            Sainsburys over the others.

One thing I can't fathom though is why they only put 3 or 4 items in a carrier bag. Ram 'em full I say!
