Holiday in Japan - Any advice?

Right so i am interested in going to japan after picking up some inheritance money.

I would like to go with my brother for maybe two weeks, but as i am a total newbie with the country and i hear its very expensive...i thought i'd ask probably the best place i know about places to stay, places to avoid, food places, costs....etc etc.

Would like to get there and back, stay for a couple of weeks, and have maybe 1k spare for akihabara.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

All I've ever inherited is genetic weaknesses and faults, and I've never been to Japan . Have a nice holiday, though .

Sorry i hadnt noticed the said resource thread, but will look into it...and shinobi you and me both on that front.

Cant wait to go, though having said that and knowing my luck, there will probably be a record breaking earthquake upon my arrival...
