Psychopaths: born evil or 'wired up' wrong?

    Interesting article from the beeb.

It goes on to discuss Neuro law and the possible impact it could have on death sentences (in the US obviously).

    Linky here ...

New research at the frontiers of neuroscience is challenging our understanding of criminal behaviour – including the psychopathic symptoms of a noted serial killer

That guy is full of rubbish, the world is full of aspergic people who are incapable of empathy or sympathy for other human beings but they don't go round killing people, it's quite common.

Just another study/article that over generalises. Personally I'd say nurture has more to play than nature generally but there's always examples in favour of one or the other. There's also the difference between being psychopathic and being a psycopathic killer. One doesn't necessarily lead to the other.

Aspergers isn't the same as psychopathy though.

Obviously not all aspergics are the same, there's a range of different symptoms and different people will experience them to different degrees. The inability to feel emotion for the pain and suffering of other humans is however one of the key indicators and as I said is extremely common amongst the group. Its a biological limitation of these very male brain and is believed to be due to high exposure to testosterone while in the womb.
