HAha. He also goes to the toilet in a golden bowl encrusted with diamonds and wipes using silk woven by vegan monks with no eyes as Kim did not want them seeing the silk that touched his crack!

Undoubtedly he was a proper nutter and I'm sure he did get up to lots of mental things, but quite a lot of this stuff seems to be speculation (after all, nobody really knows much about North Korea do they since it's so closed-down).

For example, in one of the Indie links above there's this:

"A Russian envoy, Konstantin Pulikovsky, travelled with Kim, who has a phobia about flying, on the famous train in 2001 on a trip to Moscow and said roast donkey was flown fresh to the train every day and the leader ate with silver chopsticks. He said they drank champagne with a bevy of young women of the "utmost beauty and intelligence".

which appears more or less word-for-word in an article on the BBC, but there it's live lobsters air-lifted in daily, not roast donkey. Smells fishy to me. Or is that just the lobster/roast donkey?

Many buildings don't even have rooms.
There's another one which can be seen from the DMZ.

And the best bit is: he can no longer correct us!

True fact: I heard that Kim Jong Il was actually J Edgar Hoover in DISGUISE!

I heard his fear of flying was because he was a fighter pilot in the 40s and got cryogenically frozen and later thawed out by a bunch of kids in the 90s...

I heard that he rated Team America five stars in a circle out of five in his film review column for KCNA and said "This is the best documentary about me I've ever seen!"

OMG why is that so funny!? It's funnier than it ought to be.

Kim Jong Il can slam a revolving door!!

Or am I confusing him with Chuck Norris?

With his various eccentricities it's easy to get carried away with the pop culture image that has developed around Jong-Il which can make it easy to overlook or forget that despite his power and character his life was also at times deeply steeped in unhappy times, he was after all so very ronery.

That must've been a good episode of Pimp my Ride.
