any wireless router for a virgin broadband connection?

my parents have a normal wired connection for their broadband (virgin) but are wanting to up upgrade to a wireless connection.
Can they just go into somewhere like argos and buy any wireless router?

any advice would be great chaps

It needs to be a specific cable router, not ADSL.

Actually.... do they have a wired router already, or is it just a modem?
If the former, then all they need is a wireless access point to plug into the router, although having one box to do it all would be preferable.

You won't be able to buy a router with a virgin cable modem in it.

I'd just call virgin and demand they give you one. They've been doing them for free for years

My mum & had a wired Virgin box & we just bought them a Netgear router (same model as my Sky one)
Plugged the virgin modem into the router instead of the PC & voila they had wireless.

But yeah just demand they give you a free one & if they don't tell them you'll move to SKY broadband where you will get it for free & also cost you WAY less (Broadband MAX unlimited with Sky is about ?12 a month)
