EDIT: Just noticed you got the all clear, great news man. I used to control stock for a brewery that was rife with thievery from the drivers at one of their warehouses, i setup a system to catch them red handed, which we did.....they didnt get the sack.

    Sometimes the mind boggles.
Its a piece of pi55 to get sacked here mate.

If anyone read my very last reply you'll see that the other guy got a warning & was back at work today. Then all he did was walk into the warehouse without a hi visible jacket & got instantly sacked less than 24 hrs later.

    C**ts!!!

So they class a couple of minutes without high vis as gross misconduct? what a load of old bollocks.

He's a pushover if he takes that one bending over.

Thats what I told him. Told him to get over to the Citizens Advice to see if he can get summat sorted.
The manager is out for blood, & he didnt get his own way yesterday so is now trying every little trick in the book to get what he wants.
He had the cheeck to say "alright Bry!" to me this morning. AFTER ALL THE **** HE'S PUT ME THRU!!. I got nothing to say to him. Dont wanna look at him. If I met him in a dark alley I'd have decked him & be stamping on his head before you could say "Sacked".

The place is absolutely rotten to the core thanks to him & the assistant manager

Sounds like a **** place to work. I was talking to a friend about this the other day and I said at the time, even if you win your appeal it sounds like they will try and get rid of your for something else. Tossers.

It happened to the other guy instead.

Happy that common sense has prevailed, I would be on the lookout for another job if I was you.

Glad you're not out on your ear.. Complete farce by all accounts, keep your wits about you as you know the "man" will be looking for any excuse like the hi-vis situation!!.

I'd be recording everything down ready for a 'bullying in the workplace' or 'constructive dismissal' claim if he starts seeking to frame you for other stuff.
See how he and the company likes them apples.

I'm sure you're very careful when driving the fork lift but be extra careful WHEN DRIVING PAST MY BINS!

                      Listen to this man.

He may have World Class Man Tits, but there's the odd gold nugget amongst the **** he talks.

And I'm not talking about a rogue piece of sweetcorn.

I was gonna say the same thing, have a record of all that has happened, including what happened to the other guy, and if any attempts are made on other employees jobs, because he'll no doubt try something else down the line and this could be evidence of an attempt at constructive dismissal, and could even amount to evidence to his superiors that he's a liability, he may end up costing them big time if someone fights him at a tribunal and wins, that will **** them up, but then again he could be following [off the record] orders from them. But either way, record everything in a diary and keep your wits about you. I think in this instance with it not appearing on your record it could potentially be a bad thing, because on that record it could be made clear that you were completely innocent and add to a future constructive dismissal claim if he tries anything else

I would make notes everytime something happens and upload it to the cloud or similar so it is time stamped.
That way you can show a court that the management were just looking to reduce costs.

Thanks for this guys. I'll be taking notes on instances that turn up in the near future. We as a team have also decided that should he f*ck up in a major way (which he has on many occasions - using elec pump without a license, no steel toecaps on, propping fire doors with fire extinguishers) we will ensure that we're all there to witness said f*ck up, get snap shots, then report it.

Its helped f*ck up my current relationship too, which is touch n go at the mo. I'm still f*ckin raging inside over all of this. Even more so cos the other guy involved was a mate of mine & will be sadly missed.
The missus has been a hell of a bitch lately over petty things which have nothing to do with me, & she's pushed the wrong buttons at the wrong time this time, so we're on a split to get ourselves sorted out.

This situation kind of speaks to me in that I work in a similar environment. It's in a Homebase store though and whenever a forklift is in use they basically just don't let anyone in the warehouse. Everyone seems really lax but I guess that's because it's just a retail place. We used to do all sorts of stuff that H&S would have a field day with but not so much anymore.

Gah, this type of management structure is rife in low-level employment these days, just sack 'em and get another to take their place, 'tis a culture of fear and I fooking hate it. It's same where I work, people get sacked for nothing, even minor japery is seen as a 'crime' (for f*ck's sake, a laugh or two a day is what gets a man on a poor wage through the week!) You want to make people work well for you, o' great Suit in the sky? Treat 'em well, communicate with 'em, that way morale gets better and people might actually WANT to work for you!!!! Am I the only one who sees this???

Ruddy parasitical management systems, at least they have an inbuilt sell-by date, people can only stand so much before they revolt, you can only treat people like **** for so long before their collective dams of anger burst.

Anyway, Eddie, just keep your nose clean for the next year or so, cover your back, it's the wisest way.
