Sky broadband problem - need help

Obviously called them only for the woman to be helpful enough but it was obvious she was only following a crib

Internet died through the night when I was feeding Isaac and on the broadband router I should have 3 green lights, but currently only have 2 green lights or a flashing amber (polling) or a steady amber (unable to connect)

Woke up this morning and it was the same so gave it a power cycle, disconnected everything from the micro-filter and plugged it all back up and still nothing, so went out for the day

Came back in the evening and it was still fecked, checked their webpage and there is no issues near me

So turned off all wifi stuff and gave it another power cycle, 3 green lights - tried to connect one item via wifi and it immediately went to 2 green's flashing amber.

Called sky customer services and during the call I noticed I had 3 lights, so connected a few things and they connected fine and hung up the call, noticed soon that it was failing again.

Called them again and low and behold 3 lights and tried a speed test and normally I've got 2GB broadband and with the speed test I was getting closer to 5GB - hung up again and lost it

Called again but this call was to see if I lost it as soon as I hung up and it showed that I was only being connected via broadband when I was on the telephone

So question is, what the bloody hell is wrong for some reason I can only connect to the Internet when I'm on the phone but because my problem didn't fall into the crib of questions it's been forwarded on and it will take upto 3 days before its looked at

Any person who has had this happen to them who knows a fix can you let me know or even educated guesses are welcome because at this moment in time they will be more helpful that sky

Remove the phone from the equation. Plug the microfilter directly into the main socket with only the router cable plugged into the microfilter. If there are other sockets in the house, unplug everything from them.

Leave the router off for at least 10 mins (try 30 mins).

    Try again.

Do you have the new white router? What a crock of poo. It doesn't even have a separate "sync" light

Thanks Charles, will try that but that means I will have to plug the phone in every time I want to use it

Been on the tinterweb this morning but found out I don't have to dial a number, just leave the phone off the hook

It's bloody weird, its like the reverse of how it used to be, telephone call used to knock of the Internet

Which of the lights are on? The router should have words or symbols telling you. I assume one is power.

The power light is off, the other lights are all flashing.

            Hello there

Got a text from sky techs today saying they were looking at it

Been out all day and it all looks fine now

Normal business resumed - hopefully they will tell me what happened

I just meant try the above to see if the router is ok. If the router doesn't connect when it's plugged into the main socket with nothing else involved, then either the router, the microfilter, or BT or Sky are at fault. Until you try that, all the stuff with the phone is preventing you from diagnosing the problem.
