    north to south

    Well..
I have a new job opportunity which would mean leaving the sunny north (Lincolnshire) to nearer the big smoke (job in sidcup, Kent) to be precise.

Lots to weigh up - would mean leaving family/friends. Fiancee not keen.
What about house prices- guess I would get less for my money?
Any recommendations on places to live around this neck of the woods. Certainly wouldn't want more than a half hour commute by car.
    Any assistance appreciated.

That whole area is a london commuter belt and is quite expensive.
          Nice greenbelt just south though.

Do you want to live in a town or a village?
Do you want to be near an airport e.g. gatwick?
          Or near the M25?

What are your hobbies? (for me it's location dependent e.g. hills!)

Ooohh you'll be less than an hour away from where I live

I like Kent, it's one of those places I wouldn't mind living.

looks like average house price in the area is around the ?200k according to House.co.uk

village, probably. Airport not important. Might get the train I suppose if possible into work.

would like a bit of greenery and a slice of rolling countryside.

soundwave, that average price is not as bad as I thought- some people said I shouldn't live IN sidcup tho!

Change is good as long as you are prepared to put the effort into meeting new people.
Fiancee not keen though so I think that's the most important factor - it has to be a joint decision, so take a long weekend to have a romantic break at a nice hotel and then check out the area - drive around, get a feel for things. If she's your fiancee she should at least be prepared to take a look before discounting it.

Another benefit for living in that corner is easy access to channel tunnel so you can take holidays in France easily. If you like motorsport, Brands Hatch is just round the corner.
