Car bought in 2007 for ?4k. Spent ?10k on it since then keeping it on the road and a couple of mods (servicing, parts, tyres, etc, but not insurance). So about ?1250 per year. Or ?1750 per year if you include the original cost. Admittedly I only do 7500 miles a year.

Has anyone ever used those mobile body repair people? Some kids near the hospital have been throwing acid or something on cars since we all now have spots of top coat peeling off. I was going to get one of these body repair vans to come and do my bonnet and mirror but a friend said they did her car and after a few years the repair sank and now there's a patch of "orange peel" on a door, surely that's filler and just repainting should be fine?

Sounds like a case of do you want it done, or do you want it done well.

            Little ****es though.

I got some work done on my impreza in 2013 at a reputable body shop that specialises in porsche and stuff - it's already peeling
Might have to go for a full body respray at some point. Which will cost 4X the value of the car lol...

              Lucy's is now clean too:

Tell you what, I'm not a big fan of Subaru's, but that's a nice bus.

It's so lush to drive. Twin scroll makes it totally different from mine and the suspension is incredible.

What's the year and stats Charles?

2004 "Legacy GT SpecB WR Ltd." 2.0L twinscroll. 290bhp. 0-60: 6s (it's quite a big car....) 30mpg in ECO mode. Also has sport mode and 5 speed tiptronic gear lever with gear change buttons on the steering wheel too. Folding wing mirrors, climate control, rear parking camera etc.

Here's a very low mileage manual-box one with a splitter added, but otherwise looking unmolested (even the wheels are the original gold - everyone seems to paint them silver, and it has the original grill - Lucy's has the optional full black grill): http://www.pistonheads.com/classifie...dition/4240623 It will need a replacement stainless exhaust soon by the looks (?400 fitted at powerflow). It's not clear if it has the essential McIntosh stereo upgrade (?3k option!!)

Tasty. Your wife's looks faaaaaar better with the black grille and silver wheels though.

Yeah, looking at the original WR Ltd. gold, it's not the same gold you see on the imprezas - it's some weak half way house gold. Can see why everyone gets them resprayed. The black grill is the way forward.

I put the IK scoop back on mine today for the summer (see pic) - dropped the spanner into the engine lol.... Took me ages to find it. I could really do with a way of closing the scoop during the winter (rain going directly into the IK destroys the MAF sensor) so that I don't have to take it off. Maybe some sort of rubber bung??

There was a Rolls Royce meet at Burghley House today, I caught the stragglers leaving. Some of those old cars look nice but I'm not a fan of the new models they simply don't seem to have the same sort of personality.
