No, because I asked for it. They haven't forced me to or required me too, the actual money isn't a problem, it's just how unceremonious it was. Not a single thank you for the business.

I've essentially bought a service from them and not so much as a thank you, the second I had paid they start with all of their passive aggressive , threatening paperwork.
What has rubbed me the wrong way is that they sent me some form to fill and they demand it returned within 3 days or "we assume you no longer want the property" and that admin fee would be gone.
Also that they wanted extra admin fee because my girlfriend will be moving to the property in maybe a month or maybe 3.

Crap fish n chip shops. There's one about a 17-minute walk from where I am, close-ish but just far enough away to be annoying. Been there years and I've always been curious but that *walk*...it always put me off. But two work colleagues were singing its praises last week, really pumping out those superlatives they were, and I was hungry and curious and traipsed up there in the cold this eve...........

.......and they were SH1TE! Batter like brittle leather, dry 'wedge'-type pale chips, an impenetrable, potato-heavy fishcake, all rock-hard and fried in vegetable oil. Worse than my local, and that's bad enough with the hard chips and veg oil shenanigans.

Not to be elitist but I just think some peeps have REALLY low standards when it comes to fish n chips...I can't get my bloody head around it!!!!!!!!

I went to the Black Country living museum about 2-3 years ago and there is a chippy onsite that fried everything in beef dripping

Was it nice - too right it bloody was

It's simple, innit, beef dripping is deeply embedded in the DNA of all good fish suppers! Veg oil is like the sweetener cack in diet pops, a rancid by-product of this modern-backwards age.

Spare a thought for people like me who have no chippies around at all.

Actually, don't. Just enjoy yourselves and appreciate a good chippy when you find one

The day I finally find one here I'll take a photo for you. There's a pretty decent fish place near me but they cook oven chips. Such a cop-out.

Admittedly, the fish at some of them is dreadful. Coastal ones tend to be better, purely because the fish is fresher.

Almost nowhere uses that these days, though, because it makes the chips inedible for anyone with special dietary requirements, like vegetarians.

I think that's treason, or something.

There's a really good fish and chip shop near me and some pretty poor ones too. ?2.55 for a large chips round my way though. Lovely treat now and again, and of course need to be eaten from the wrapper while walking home.

Don't eat fish but dread to think how much it is.

Great chippy near me down by the sea in Selsey - run by Koreans. Magical chips and great batter.

Is it me or has fish and chips gotten way more expensive than other forms of takeaway? It's about four times the price of fried chicken in London.

that's because fried chicken is more than likely pigeon in London and there's tons of them for free

Yep can get a chicken and chips "meal" from fried chicken places near here for ?1.30. School kids love it. They've even stopped giving planning permission to them as there are 8 fried chicken shops within three miniutes walk of one school.

Speaking of chip shops, anyone got any great/badly named ones near them, couple near me spring to mind

                            - Oh My Cod
                            - Time & Plaice
                            - Rock & Roe

Sure there are loads more I just can't remember at moment.
