You do have to wonder why the government hasn't gone to OPCW though and came to a conclusion it was Russia very quickly indeed. There are other countries with access to similar nerve agents.
Leaving a big smoking gun at the scene seems pretty sloppy work - it's perfectly plausible that Russia is behind it, but I do wonder quite what Putin would have to gain from assassinating Skripal at this point in time, especially using a method that would immediately implicate Russia.Last edited by MartyG; 14-03-2018, 16:19.

The common speculation is that whilst the murder attempt spoils Russia's international connections, it shores up Putin's voter base at home and his re-election vote is in a fortnight. It'll never happen but I wish the Russian people would grow a pair and get shot.
This report gives an insight into Trump's methods and also how things could easily go south with another country.

Putin already had a 60% lead so that explanation doesn't really hold water, he also stands to lose far more in international relations because of it, as we're seeing being played out.
In Trump news, the liar in chief admits to spouting BS and is caught on tape: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...justin-trudeau - edit I see this is the same story as linked above

It just seems odd to me. I don't want to get all tinfoil hat but why have they immediately assumed Russia is responsible? It could've been any individual, perhaps even someone with a personal grudge - they just used a Russian nerve toxin.
