From what I've read BMI have said that uncertainty has been a contributing factor but they haven't put the blame squarely on Brexit - must be reading a different article.
For me, BMI have been treading water since they tried to go transatlantic with the big boys in 2002 and failed badly, until then they had a great product, better than BA for the most part on competing routes and Diamond Club was a decent rewards programme, they were even in Star Alliance with the likes of Thai, Lufty and SIngapore but after pulling out of the long haul market and then having to give up the coveted LHR slots they've been in decline.
Operating routes like MAN-INV with old EMB135's which aren't even painted up in the livery won't bring in the money I'm afraid.
Germania have also just gone under, Air Berlin went last year (along with Monarch in 2017), Norwegian and WOW are struggling and FlyBe has just had a cash injection. Simple fact is too much competition, even O'Leary's mob have issued a profit warning.
Very sad day, hope the staff get jobs elsewhere.
