Leadsom attempts to jump ship ahead of her own bid for leadership. Take a good long look at her, she will never - never - be PM

MP's insist May will be gone by Monday - heard that one many times before

Currently, Boris remains the favoured candidate to replace May

Rolling coverage of the day’s political events as they happen as the UK votes in the European elections 2019 and pressure continues on Theresa May to resign

The plan to release the Withdrawal Bill tomorrow has been cancelled and reportedly May is attempting to edit it as she still thinks she can find some way of passing it and staying on as Prime Minister

I got a notification from Google on my phone when I woke up yesterday saying that it's elections "tomorrow" (it should have said "today")

Did you not get to vote then?

Our elections are today and, at the same time, we have local elections and a referendum. So in all of that, nobody has any idea who is running for what beyond just a lot of random faces on posters.

Going on 7th June - so, Boris will be the next PM.

And you thought May was bad.

Well now the next PM will at least be able to deliver that way better Brexit deal, right?

There are going to be a lot of very disappointed people when they discover that getting rid of May doesn't change a damned thing for the better.
Great day for the ERG though, they've likely just secured No Deal

No Deal has always been the most likely outcome. MPs already talking about "renegotiating" the deal with the EU.

I'm waiting for the EU to make a statement to the effect of "Sod Off".

It's all on the Labour Party now, its members need to push incredibly hard on Corbyn saying either he lets go of his fixation on a short term GE and backs a second referendum or he's out.

Except it's not - all the next PM has to do if a No Deal Brexit is the goal, is to run the clock out because it's the government that has to ask for an extension to article 50. There's nothing in reality any opposition can do to stop it because of the legal position article 50 has us in.

The two leading conservatives in the leadership battle are Johnson and Raab, both of whom are hardline brexit. Not sure which one would be worst tbh.

There's absolutely no chance of an early general election now, neither Johnson or Raab would risk it before some form of Brexit happens.

Surely the issue for a hardline PM then is that whilst they may be more in favour of it (and can make it happen) a significant amount of their own party isn't in favour meaning they can stick to the their guns but they risk bringing the entire party down within their first year in power?
