Briefing, which recommended stockpiling PPE among other measures, intensifies focus on No 10’s handling of outbreak
The Government was warned last year of the risks of a pandemic
Exclusive: Leaked list reveals presence of Johnson adviser and Vote Leave ally on supposedly independent body
Whilst it's been discovered that their 'being led by the science' advisory group is actually a group with Dominic Cummings on it along with Ben Warner who was hired last year to help the Tories campaign for election.
The full line up of SAGE
Sweden reports highest number of new cases; WHO launches €7.5bn fundraising bid; Russian cases jump by more than 5,000 in a day
The Shadow Health Secretary is not impressed
"These are very serious revelations and raise significant questions about the credibility of decisions being taken by the government on the coronavirus.Dominic Cummings has no place on the government’s scientific advisory group on the coronavirus.
He is a political adviser, not a medical or scientific expert. If the public are to have confidence in the SAGE, the government must make clear Dominic Cummings can no longer participate or attend.
We also need full transparency on who is attending meeting of SAGE and what is being discussed."
Meanwhile in a hark back to simpler and predictable times Michel Barnier says that when it comes to Brexit the Tories are simply trying to run down the clock.

Before I read that quote by the Shadow minister, my immediate thought was, get those two arseholes off the scientific advisory body. They represent political vested interests, and will have no doubt cherry-picked ideas from discussions to back up whatever drivel they were feeding Spaffer.
My research into 1940s scientific panels was illuminating. Politicians regularly overruled the scientific advice. One politician on such a panel was effectively its head, for all intents and purposes. No matter what was recommended, he’d have the casting vote on whether or not it reached the ears of the PM and/or became a recommendation. Even then it may not have been used in policy discussions.
If Wormtongue is on that panel, it’s not independent, and the advice fed back to policymakers is not scientific.

Families of NHS staff who die from coronavirus to get £60,000; Johnson says lockdown cannot yet end as second peak would be disaster
Johnson makes his first public address by wiping away any notion of lifting the UK lockdown. He says that they are unwilling to risk a second peak by throwing away the countries current efforts in a rushed effort to restart the economy
Additionally, whilst deaths are falling there is now an increase in the number of children being taken to hospital with the virus.
Meanwhile Wuhan has discharged all of its Coronavirus patients as China claims to have had only three new cases and zero deaths
