Yeah, I know a few people who don't live on the border but not a long drive away and they see NI reg cars everywhere. Apparently there have been quite a few complaints from the locals as a result but I don't know if they can actually do anything about it.

Hospitality bosses are to draw up a legal challenge to the Government unless they reveal the science behind the restriction decisions
The government has failed to account for £3bn spent on private contracts since the start of lockdown, new figures show
As MPs launch legal action against the Government for its failure over transparency of COVID related contracts as £3bn is currently missing.
We thought the virus was going to take us this winter, but we forgot the real enemy... red tape.

You guys don't want the same ****ty restrictions as we do in Wales. The more this goes on the more I am getting a little depressed by it all and therefore less likely to keep it up. My sister is in Devon with new babies and we can't see her because we can't leave our county. Unless it's to go to a busy workplace or drop our babies off to a busy nursery to go to said workplace. We are also allowed to use our parents to care for our children so that we can look after other children (both teachers) but God forbid, DON'T STEP FOOT IN THEIR HOUSE. The county lines are to be respected, apparantly, but they are so stupid that we shouldn't be going to a local Tesco, for example, and have to drive half an hour to a store that is literally 3 times busier and more crowded. Oh, by the way, my work, the mrs' work and the babies nursery are all in DIFFERENT COUNTIES. Sigh. A lot of sighs.

Sometimes you have to consider the over privileged and lazy in these things.

Yep. Worried about how my parents will cope. My mum is still having to travel down to London on a train for specialist treatments in hospital every couple of months and just trying to get things to run as normal for them at home is hard enough.
Lord knows what this new announcement will bring. We told our parents at the wedding we might not be seeing them over Christmas with all this going on, the amount of planning my mother does is wedding-level most Christmases she hosts so having so much on the line with changing rules I just don't think it's worth the stress of the extra shopping combined with us travelling so far. I don't want her to get so worked up with planning only for Boris and Covid to mess with her plans despite the positive attitude she has.
Curious whats gonna happen with this announcement and in the next few weeks. I have not been into work for 3 weeks and wont be back until the end of next week. Last time I was in things were starting to edge towards as normal as things can for a while but had already started to edge towards needing to step back again so no idea what is going on now. Doesn't help that LOADS of staff have left so with me now off work there are more new starters than regular nurses which is a concern. God knows what I am returning to.
Dentists and staff still not getting much help at all from the government with guidance, support and recognition and the like. There are talks of flu jabs which we don't qualify getting free/ kinda do but not witnessed it working. Had same issue with working in a nursing home years ago, yes I was supposedly eligible to have some flu shots but never was able to get the doctor/ pharmacies/ work to allocate it. Meh, not that the flu jab is gonna do anything but still would be a sign the government recognizes us risking our health working so close with patients.Last edited by Blobcat; 12-10-2020, 14:14.
