You're not wrong, but the final design might change between now and when it is released to consumers.

Personally, I'm amazed that Google are attempting to enter the tablet space again. Surely they'd be better off trying to advance Chromebooks instead?

Yeah caught me by surprise. The general design looks about 3 years behind the curve though so hopefully they can actually get it looking less archaic for release.

Google release the Pixel 6a at £399: https://store.google.com/gb/product/pixel_6a?hl=en-GB

Haven't gone through the specs properly yet, but that's £200 less than the Pixel 6.

So looks like the biggest difference is the camera which is the 12MP from the Pixel 4/5, slightly smaller battery, IP67 rather than IP68, and less RAM. Processor is the same, so don't think this is badly priced (the cam in the Pixel 4/5 was still pretty decent). It'll end up on deals for less than £399 no doubt, currently though, if you pre-order from Google you can get a pair of Pixel Bud Series A headphones for free if you add to your order at the same time.

They're taking pre-orders from today - the 6a is actually out officially next week.

I'm kinda tempted tbh (Google will stop supporting my Pixel 4XL come the end of October).

Past a-series Pixel devices usually went along the lines of same camera as premium Pixel devices but less powerful processor. The formula has flipped this time around - same Tensor processor as the premium 6 and 6 Pro phones but with "lesser" camera hardware, even if that camera hardware is the aged-but-proven performers that we've seen on the Pixels 3-5.

I would like to get my hands on the 6a before deciding though. Size specs make it appear to be near the size of the Pixel 5, which appeals to me because I don't really want a larger phone, but the promo photos make it look bigger.

It's too small for me. I really wish they'd come out with a 6a XL model.

Can't really fault the rest of it spec-wise but I love a nice big screen now as I'm into cloud streaming games when I can. Currently I use a Poco F3 which has a 6.7" screen...

I got sent a Hotwav W10. Did a little video on it.

...but in the meantime, Apple will be announcing the next generation of iPhone and Apple Watch, amongst other things, tomorrow at 6PM UK BST/7PM EST.

I feel almost numb watching these annual refreshes now. The last pixel phones were a solid change but not without issues.

I'm kinda waiting for some of the big boys to really knock down the foldable market and hit a price point that makes it mass market.

Sticking to my more recent year stance of no longer buying into new phone models thanks to the zero sum game there is in terms of improvements of any worth, my Galaxy S8 was cracked thanks to the kids so I've just picked up a second hand Sony Xperia 1 as a replacement and... it's absolutely lovely. Other than being a bit slippy in the hand thanks to the glossy casing it's been perfect so far

Probably going to pick up the new 14pro. My 12pro has been hammered since owning it and the cracks are showing now, not literally, but the battery is down to 70% original capacity.

So no more iPhone mini models? Guess I’ll be hanging on to mine for as long as possible.
