Trump signed in a new law when he was president that carries 5 years per mishandled classified document in the hope that it stops people like Snowden.

Then the US executive branch of the government will massively overreach into the judicial branch (something that historically has been kept separate for good reasons) in order to wrangle things to "respect the will of the people" and Trump will become president. At that point, any pretense of being anything but a totalitarian populist will fade away and they'll then set their sights on the media, first disincentivising and then downright destroying any outlet which speaks against the government.
Trump will die; he's old and not in the best health as it is. But the person that follows him will inherit a fundamentally different USA to the one which, for example, was overseen by Clinton or Dubya.
