Parks and beauty spots are full of people taking advantage of the sunshine. Snowdonia reports its busiest day ever. Boris Johnson says that curfews and travel bans will be imposed if people don’t start acting responsibly.

Robert Jenrick says millions of antibody tests to tell if people have had Covid will be available within weeks.

The Sunday Times reports that at a meeting last month, Dominic Cummings’s approach was “herd immunity, protect the economy and if that means some pensioners die, too bad”. Downing Street rejects the story as “highly defamatory”.

Going off the daily infection rate and the testing rates it seems like we're down to really, really low figures now which makes the roadmap plans all the more bemusing, vaccinations are nowhere near fast enough for the roadmap to make any sense without recreating the same situation that happened after Lockdown 01 and 02. We must be only about another week away from seeing the effects of schools reopening hit the figures and the EU might be behind us in vaccinations but it shows how quickly another wave can strike.

As mentioned in the other thread, the effects of school going back is already happening. Loads of cases at my daughter's school last night (they all have home testing kits), so her whole class is off school again. Anyone surprised by this should have a quiet word with themselves

Showing public health data across England

Cases steady at near 6,000 but testing drops to sub 900,000? First hint at a shift?

That's because we have self test kits now.

And in the EU vaccination threat corner Jean Claude Juncker has now added his voice to the internal callouts putting the blame at the EUs feet for the handling of the situation saying the EU has been over cautious in procuring the vaccines in the first place.

That's the British can-do attitude for you! With a problem as tortuously intractable and intricate as this one, just kick 10, 15...nah, make it 17 arbitrary years down the road.

Why not have BBC 1&2 free and you pay if you want to use Iplayer and the others?
Wow look at that, I came up with a viable alternative...

                          Hold that thought until 2038.

They're snookered, just enough fans to maintain for the protection of the BBC but also just enough reason to keep the abolishing the license fee as a debate tool. They want it gone but can't afford to because that would be the end of the BBC in effect, either they become a much smaller advertising friendly channel or shut down because it'd be be an absolutely god awful subscription service.

The problem is it will be dead by 2038. My kids who never watch BBC will be 30+. I've stopped using it (or sky or any broadcast) and don't miss it.

The viable alternative is what sky have been doing for over 30 years and many others have copied. You want bbc? Pay for it.
