I think the Tory party now have the highest number of seats in their history. Having this many seats means we won't see anything other than a Tory government for at least 2 more elections.

It's more Trumpism, a growing majority who just ignore or don't care about morals, conduct, corruption or any other aspects of incompetence. It's like how often someone says that the government has handled COVID really well. They haven't, it's been an utter ----show. That opinion rests solely on the vaccination rollout which has sod all to do with the government, them just cashing in on the sheer blind luck that a UK lab worked out a vaccine fast.
It takes an absolute staggering utter moron of a Northerner to think the Tories are going to ever do anything positive so the red wall seems to exist out of sheer blatant lingering Brexit racism at this point. It's clear Labour has no momentum at all and trying to pin on Tory sleaze isn't going to work. Best to wait another year or two then hone in on promising to deliver what the Tories inevitably fail to do.Last edited by Neon Ignition; 07-05-2021, 11:12.

The reason the Tory's do so well is the public are constantly fed how bad things would be under a Labour government, its a sad state of affairs that the rampant cronyism hasn't even so much as caused even a small dent to their popularity, they must be feeling pretty invincible at the moment so no doubt we will see even more money going to Tory backed company's.
The sad thing is we have a broken Labour party with half its members wanting Cobrny like socialist leadership and the other wanting a return to the Blair days with Stammer, creating a coup in their party and outing Corbyn clearly hasn't worked if the local results are to be belived.
The Tory arent that strong either Johnson seems ineffective and lost as do most of his cabinet but they seem to be getting a free pass at the moment to pretty much do whatever they like which is worrying.

The trouble with them securing the vaccines though is that it was less a smart strategy and more a fortunate result of their appaling approach to spending. They've thrown billions down the gutter during the last 18 months on loads of failed projects and initiatives. Whilst it's all worked out in the end due to the rollout it coudl have easily gone the other way (and likely won't be so quick to deal with next time).
The Tories are like if they were a guy who says 'look how amazing I am' because he's won the £2,000,000 jackpot on the lottery. But his strategy has been to spend £45,000,000 buying tickets for the drawer covering every combination.
Not that it will ever affect this Government but everyone should have the fear of god in them about what's going to happen when the next pandemic hits. The general global picture has been soul crushing and this one has ended faster than will happen next time with a virus that is a drop in the ocean next to what could and likely would spread in future.

I don't begrudge them that they bought them, just that buying the vaccine wasn't an accomplishment just a given. The only credit to it is they weren't as slow to place an order as the EU was. It's a very small accomplishment in a sea of failures by a government who's moral and actionable failures are being handwaved away by the public who wrongly attribute the pandemic ending to being thanks to Johnson.
