Not sure if directed at me but I’m not suddenly very concerned. My mother, sister, daughter and girlfriend are all women; I’ve always been concerned.

Ok we’re kinda in agreement I think. I’m saying that the separation of men and women in sport has lead us to where we are now. The reasoning behind the separation is actually based on the generalisation of physical attributes. We just decided to use sex to create those divisions because it required so little effort!
If we create the divisions more accurately then the sport card cannot be played to stop trans competitors.

What is the true cost of policing Britain's streets, even if done poorly?

Neon has the right idea I think. I’m not saying it would work for all sports or that I wouldn’t ruin them even but it does at least try to be fair.
Just often in the debate over trans issues, people will jump very quickly from topics of what toilets people use (a broad issue that affects many people) to what we do at the Olympics (a comparably very narrow issue), when the two things are very different.
What I meant about the other thing was that I don't really put much stock in sport, but I think gender representation is really important. So I wouldn't mind actions that change a lot of sporting stuff in the cause of recognising gender, because the two things, to me, don't equate - even if those changes would cause things to be seen, by some, as "unfair" or "more complicated" by the criteria that sports use at present. But I freely admit that I know sport is important to some people, and I'm not normal in this regard.
Similarly I don't work in sport or put any stock in it, and I'm not a doctor, an athlete or a trans person, and I haven't read up enough on the various aspects of the debate to give an informed answer other than that knee-jerk assertion above.

Of course, thanks to the policing Bill, these protests will soon be illegal, so in a few years we just have to suck it up.

I wasn't aware LGBT "conversion therapy" was a thing in the UK. Glad it's being banned, not so much with the ban excluding trans people though. It's a garbage practice regardless of who its being done to.
Mermaids have set up a petition to contact local MPs about the issue if anyone wants to do so. Ask your MP to support a trans-inclusive ban on conversion therapy - Mermaids (mermaidsuk.org.uk)
