Priti Patel continues her reign of failure as her Immigration Bill is once again torn apart in the House of Lords and defeated. It could be consideration that maybe, just maybe, Patel is utterly inept at her job
I just don't get her. At least, I hope I don't. I'll say something quite mean-spirited here, but whatever.

She's said, in the past, that she's in favour of restrictions to things like immigration that would mean her own family would never have settled in the UK, and she doesn't find this to be ironic; it's truly what she feels is right.

Years ago, I worked with a certain Polish bloke. He came over to the UK many years ago and other than his Polish surname, you wouldn't have suspected he was Polish (it didn't come up until I'd known him for a long time); but the things he said about Poland and the other Polish... Basically boiled down to that he'd struggled to learn English, to expunge any accent from his voice, to settle here, adopt British values and such. He literally said he's not one of "those" Polish people, supposed "great unwashed". Said all the same stuff you'd probably see on a BNP manifesto; "coming here, opening their delis, building their churches, not learning our language...".

This man was Polish and he hated Polish people. His own people were an embarrassment to him. He saw himself as British, and I suspect would be the sort who would expect to be treated well by racist people, held up as "not one of those foreigners with their ways, can't they all be like Pavel here? He's normal, he gets it - see, I'm not a xenophobe, I can be friends with the right sort of Polish bloke" (his name wasn't Pavel).

Now to be clear, I had no problem with "Pavel" adopting the customs of the culture he's moved to; I mean that's his choice, and some degree of doing that is polite. I mean I made an effort to learn Japanese in Japan, and didn't expect the culture to conform to me, as a British person. But I didn't desire to be seen as Japanese (even if such a thing were possible).

Is Priti Patel like this? Because I feel it would explain a great deal if she was.

This is "Boris didn't literally paint the side of the bus" all over again

I'm no psychologist, but I'd have a guess that:
Priti Patel was bullied at a young age because of her race. She quickly learned that if she played the reverse uno card and also hated her own race, she was left alone. She probably bullied other kids too.
That in turn carried on through the years, where she pushed herself into a position to act in her hate and bully people in the work place.

I had a discussion with a mate the other day. We tried to rank the Cabinet in order of repugnance. It was incredibly hard. We added thickness as an additional factor. It didn’t clear things up much. Nadine Dorries was the main beneficiary. She’s got to be the stupidest person I’ve ever seen in government.

Raab runs her close though, the thick ****.

Am probably the wrong person to comment on this but anyway. All politicians are basically the same in that they know bugger all about what they are ministering.

One minute they are minister for agriculture but couldn't identify any farm animals and have no idea what a hay baler does. Next, there is a re-shuffle and they are minister for transport - are they a qualified pilot, got the 'knowledge', worked on the railways, been a bus driver - no none of the above.
However, what they should do is get up to speed on their brief so can articulate responses and at least talk freely on their new job. Dorries comes across as someone who wants the job title but does **** all work for it. She's been found out many times as lacking stats or facts or just general information on what she should be doing in her job when asked questions.

            She's really very poor.

I reckon Priti Patel is a genuinely horrible person and a bully who follows the Thatcher model and is also hoping to make a leadership bid. She's savvy enough to know that her main disadvantage in this ultimately quite racist country is her race. As a result, she wants to build up a long reputation as being fiercely tough on immigration and particularly illegal immigration, as well shaping her image to come across as possibly evil because for reasons possibly only understood by psychologists, many Tory voters love the idea of somebody a bit evil going around and stamping on people they also don't like. She will probably be PM by the late 2020s/early 2030s and will be one of the most beloved Tory leaders there has ever been and it just makes me want to drive my car into the sea.

                    Boris Johnson today:

And when you find the truth, share it. Those responsible will be held to account. And history will remember who looked the other way …

                      I'll have what your smoking.

No chance of this happening whatsoever and I'll take that bet.

Good news. Brexit 350 million is paying for the NHS. No, wait, changes to National insurance are paying for it.

I think you're overcomplicating Priti Patel.
I just think that she would literally sell her own family to make money and gain power.

Since Johnson whipped his way down to just the the Yes Men in his party, you're left with the kind of kids at school that pretended to be your friend when it was just you, then join in with the bullies when they were around.

All of them incompetent, doing whatever they can to prolong their time in power, but maximising the opportunities to make money for them, their friends and family and future business partners.

I'm so depressed that we're at this point and yet still people defend them.

                                As for Nadine Dorries...
