"I think we also need to remember, without excusing what happened, but by way of context, the extraordinary pressure that group of people were under during the course of the pandemic.

They were working the longest imaginable hours under the most enormous amount of pressure. That in no way diminishes the seriousness of what happened, but it does provide some context."

Because us lower class people can't possibly have been under any pressure. Nurses in hospitals were having a very easy time of it all. People trying to hold together business and their entire livelihoods without going bankrupt, worrying about all their employees, probably under very limited amount of stress.

Anyway, the Wakefield MP has now been sentenced to 18 months inside: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-61549531

Slightly surprised to be honest, expected it to be a suspended sentence. They haven't said which prison, but it would be hilarious if it was HMP Wakefield as it would keep him in his constituency for a change. Doubt it though, probably some low security joint.

The guy is going to go through a world of **** in prison. Prisoners don't like his kind.

As for MPs working hard so they had to party... **** off. People were actually dying. Like dead. Thousands of people. And they didn't get to hold a wake with friends and family and have drinks and say goodbye. So go **** yourselves.

            And there it is

Police presumably were either lied to or they covered it up.

Is it not weird that the BBC chose to publish "astonishing incriminating photos" on the same day that they published "astonishing incriminating photos" of the government?

BBC news making sure you're looking away from the people paying their wages.

Johnson asked Sue Gray not to publish the report.

If that's true, stacked against the climate of those photos being leaked, something very corrupt has gone on here.

I suspect someone leaked those because they anticipated Sue Gray's report might get buried.

It's clear that there are some serious Malcolm Tucker shenanigans going on behind closed doors.

I mean, he was found guilty of breaking the law by the Supreme Court within the initial months of holding the role of Prime Minister so it's been a constant ****show descent ever since. If he asked Gray to withhold the report he's as stupid as we think he is, the ship on burying that one sailed a very long time ago. To be honest I don't know why he's making this so painful for himself, just get the report out and move on. We've long since established that the report and these photo's won't move the needle at all because he won't resign and the Tories are spineless cowards so won't do anything either. It's clear that there needs to be automatic mechanisms in place to remove a Prime Minister or senior MP who breaks key rules or the law but that'll never happen with the Corrupsatives in charge

... this makes you wonder - what's in it? Something we don't know about?

I think it's a combination of elements at the moment. At its core the cabinet are universally corrupt and I think the backbenchers dislike that and the damage it's doing the party but are petrified because there's a void of alternative so we've slipped into the model the Republicans did where they hated Trump but allowed their party to be corrupted through short term fear and greed rather than deal with him and secure a long term win.

Every newspaper today headlined with the photos of Johnson drinking at the party. Apart from the Daily Mail who lead with the Uyghur detention thing. And the BBC homepage.

This is all bull****! Why come out as an "insider" now? Why not back when the police where investigating?
