UK under pressure from Europe over deletion of abortion commitments | Global development | The Guardian
The differences between the Tories and the Republicans continue to get smaller and smaller

      Eh... WTF?

OK Reading that article I think this is less about the UK removing Abortion laws (I'm not even sure they can if they wanted), but more that they want to rub up to various countries that might have less than ideal women's rights in the hope we look good to them. It's all about flirting.

Could just get rid of all the pointless middle management that does nothing apart from sucking the nhs dry.

No? Ok more taxes it is then.

In fact sod it lets just reduce nurses pay and give middle management a nice pay bump and bonuses while were at it, go all the way for those soft suits that have to trawl the internet all day as they have so little actual work to do.

In order to not think about the motivating factor of their own personal greed.

Well, yeah? I mean, consider the fiasco over the COVID PPE. Some people connected to the government have pocketed vast sums of money, which are now probably stashed away in tax havens at this point. Not only will they never be prosecuted, or the MPs who made it possible, but we don't even have the mechanism to do it - and if you go about trying to, if you get close enough, you'll just get killed by a car-bomb.

I don't approve of tax avoidance, or those who vote purely on the basis of trying to reduce tax, but sometimes I sympathise.

And this is why they keep voting for people who serve their own personal interests. These things are very much connected. It’s not the MPs who are pushing for higher taxation and better public services who get voted in. It’s the one who will gut departments and make deals with their buddies to privatise. It’s all a big greed pool.

Truss-Sunak news – live: Foreign secretary’s tax cut pledges do not stack up, Labour says (msn.com)
Amongst Tory voters the PM candidate who is the most popular choice is... Boris Johnson, still more popular than either finalist.

Also, if voted into power, Labour will not nationalise Rail, Water or Energy

They do say democracy gets a country not the government it wants, but rather the one it deserves

Wow what a choice a Tory party run by the Torys or a Tory party run by Labour. you'd like to think that they would at least try and hide the fact that they are pretty much in agreement with everything the Torys have done.

To me this is strategic from Labour just to ensure they get in next election. I'm sure nationalisation of key infrastructure would still be something they'd want to bring back but it may be too much to persuade those marginal voters to vote red.

Honestly though as someone who has only been back in the UK 5 years the rail service is ****ed. I tell people back in Sydney how much it costs and they're gobsmacked.
