Had a check but it turns out he was just shown a gun that had his face plastered onto it and said he wanted to buy one, but never did.

Donald Trump committed fraud as he built his real estate empire, New York judge rules | Donald Trump | The Guardian
A Judge has dismissed an effort by Trump to have one of the cases against him thrown out on the basis that... well... he's guilty as ****

Look, I'm happy to stand trial for accusations that don't have enough evidence to convict me but some of this stuff I can't defend. It's obvious I did it and it's illegal! How can I defend that!? It's not a fair trial because I have no chance of winning so those charges should be dropped.

I doubt it at all, but there's always hope... Trump bannings and jail time are always built on hope!

lol he says in the above clip that his assets where in fact worth more than he stated and not less, if their trying to get him on false reporting its right their from his own mouth

I really don't understand how anyone can listen to him and think "yeah this guy knows whats going on"

His base is too busy getting riled up about how old Biden is and how much people won't fall in love with how youthful and full of life Trump appears by comparison

He can't help himself, spouting the kind of nonsense you'd expect if he were found guilty but instead he does it at the start because even in his own mind he knows his own guilt and is knee-jerk reacting in anticipation of the outcome

                  And another self-own for Trump

This proves Trump is not a swindler. A swindler would have caught how his lawyers are pretending to know their supposed profession.

The thing I like about this case is that even though it's not a criminal case it's one that will be immensely and publicly damaging to Trump's ego and given that it's effectively locked in that he's guilty as charged it's more the symbolism. Ahead of the five criminal cases I think it's important to have a fresh image of him being held accountable, at some point we need a portion of the US population to get it through their skulls that the critical BS around Trump is that he's in any possible way suitable to vote for.

I always tend to fantasise about Japan as some sort of haven to retire to, particularly with the state of UK politics. So am always taken aback when I read horror stories like these and realise it’s just as awful, if not more broken than the UK. It’s just we’re not as exposed to its news cycles. “You’re a gay couple? Sorry, you can’t buy or rent this house.”

Japan offers same-sex couples no clear legal protection, leaving them feeling nearly invisible.

Can the world just settle down a be nice? No? Oh.

Yeah; LGBTQIA+ people face many problems living in Japan; just due to the very different cultural attitudes, many are different problems to what they face in the UK.

There's an unfortunate thing with Japan; in that I encountered many right-wing people who moved there under illusions it was some sort of conservative paradise. It's certainly true that Japan has some policies which in the west, people would consider right-wing (I think Tory/UKIP die-hards would love the UK to adopt Japan's strict immigration policies), along with how the country is racially much more homogenous than most with over 98% of people being both racially and nationally Japanese (and few specific laws or policies to protect non-Japanese from racism in the workplace etc.). That led to situations where you met neckbeards who had gone from their mum's attic to the streets of Tokyo, wearing a t-shirt saying they're looking for a Japanese girlfriend - out of some weird belief that Japanese women are quiet and respectful, not like those femnazis in their home country who have opinions.

This isn't you btw Wools because the fact you even use the word "fantasise" means you understand that, on some level, this is a fantasy. But the number of people who don't know that, who you run into, is kinda frightening.

Japan, in reality, is a country of contradictions and you can't just map the western left/right wing model of political discourse onto Japanese life.

I blame that Bond film where the native women swooned over Connery's hairy chest

The same conservative party has been in power in Japan for all but four and half years since 1955, believe it or not. (It’s a bit like Italy 1946-1994 in that regard.) The main opposition party (which does support LGBT rights) is rather hapless and has low levels of support, and was formed in 2017 after the previous opposition party collapsed following a failed rebrand. Last thing I read about the opposition in Japan is that it’s rather ideologically incoherent and doesn’t have the same professionalism as the governing party.
