Attorneys say in court filing that law used to seek five-year term for actor Alec Baldwin was not in force at time of incident

This will rumble on for a while yet but it's also a spectacular show of how petty Republicans can be as they use a death to self promote careers and harass a detractor

That's a potential huge can of worms. If the judge rules against Baldwin's case on that, it could set a legal precedent that you can be charged for doing something that wasn't a crime when you did it. I hope for everyone's sake that they don't do that.

From what I've heard it was a monumental **** up from the armoury. Guns were passed around like candy, the prop guns were confused with blank firing guns. And to top it off live ammunition was kicking around the set.
Its definitely not Baldwins fault, his trust was in the team around him.

If he hadn't lampooned Trump on SNL a few years back he'd be facing a different outcome, the team behind the charges are riddled in bad practice but it's getting them a lot of PR

So yesterday the US shot down an unidentified cylindrical object over alaska and today Canada shot one down over the Yukon and are tracking multiple objects. Probably more Chinese balloons, but still, what the hell is going on?

This is totally going to be spy planes.

It's exactly the same as, around the time that Russia invaded Crimea, that there were those news reports of Russian jets infringing upon NATO airspace in the North Sea, forcing the RAF to respond.

The news made a big deal of it, about if Russia were probing our defenses.

                  Because they were.

But they left out that this wasn't a change. Russia's been doing this for many years. They send jets out, they skirt the edge of their airspace, we send Tornadoes or Eurofighters or whatever, they rattle the sabre, they go home, we go home, and everyone gets to chill out for about a month. Then they start up the dance again.

                  We probably do it sometimes.

The US probably shoots down Chinese spy drones all the time. It's only newsworthy now because of the balloon.

Users who don't pay a fee for Twitter Blue within the next 30 days will lose SMS two-factor authentication. But there are ways to work around this without signing up for a Twitter subscription.

Two-factor authentication on Twitter was giving Musk a massive phone bill, so he's just going to turn it off... unless you pay to be a blue tick.

The land of the dumb. No way would this make it to actual law. Surely not.

Let them. It'll be a perfect example of what happens if you don't vaccinate large populations. Once 30% of the population die I'm sure they'll review the bill.

It might. There are tons of Americans (I'm sure other nationalities too) who genuinely believe that the vaccination kills non-vaccinated people.

There's two versions of this conspiracy theory.

The less crazy (but still couched in poor understanding) version is that by vaccinating people, they've undermined herd immunity somehow, making unvaccinated people more likely to get the disease than vaccinated people.

The bat**** crazy version is that the vaccine literally kills people who don't have it.
