A witch hunt where you tell everyone you are in fact, a witch, before anyone has even asked if you have a pointy hat and a broomstick.

Silvio Berlusconi, the only postwar Italian PM most British people can name, has died at 86. A lecherous billionaire who headed his own national government using populist rhetoric and acting like a geriatric idiot (where else have we seen that since?).

‘We’re ready’: Miami police prepared for Trump arraignment | Miami | The Guardian
Trump remains upset following days of decrying the legal system as he is seen making his way for another arraignment today in Miami as the next case against him gets set to formally charge him with federal crimes

The inditement is well worth a read - it's difficult to see how Trump can have a defense against it, given he, and the people that worked for him, stitched themselves up by having photos and texts on their own phones contradicting what they claimed had happened when responding to the grand jury and FBI.

I think Bill Barr (Trump's Attorney General) said it best on Fox News at the w/e ...

This is a pretty big moment.
This is the first ever federal criminal prosecution against a former US president.

Naturally, the police are prepping for a load of pro-Trump protesters adamant of his innocence.
They probably know Michael Jackson was innocent and there's no smoke without fire for other people, but Don is as straight as an arrow.

Interesting article on how other Republicans reacted to his indictment:
As most conservatives denounce a "political prosecution", some rivals choose their words carefully.

"Former Vice-President Mike Pence, who is now running against his old boss, told a weekend Republican convention that no one was above the law. Then he talked about years of alleged politicisation at the Department of Justice and the failure to prosecute Hillary Clinton."

They're going to take his fingerprints and possibly take his mugshot.
This time it's for hoarding loads of classified documents after his time in office and not being compliant with officers when they raided him and asked for them back.
In the eyes of the law, this is seen as a more serious crime than paying pornstar Stormy Daniels some hush money.

I doubt anything will happen, but it's definitely a future pub quiz question as to who was the first President to be arrested.

Couldn't resist a dig, could he

In seriousness, I know Clinton breached protocol by having a private email server instead of one handled by the normal channels, which, admittedly, is a similar issue to what Trump is facing. Was there ever any chance she was going to jail for it? I'm not sure about the relative severity of the actions.

I wonder if she'll tweet something like "Lock him up". Possibly create an account on Truther and literally just post that.

Worth reading this for more info on the indictment:
Now we know the full scope of the charges, it's clear how dramatic some of the accusations are.

"Mr Trump has been charged with 37 counts of unauthorised possession of classified material, obstruction of justice, concealing documents and making false statements to law enforcement.

Each of those counts contains penalties that include substantial fines and the possibility of years in prison.

                      • Missing documents included nuclear secrets
                      • Trump showed US military plans to visitors
                      • charges of obstruction of the investigation and lying to and misleading investigators

The indictment included a photograph alleged to show classified documents in a ballroom"

If Trump had handed back everything as requested when it was requested, he wouldn't be facing any charges. He wanted the trophies. And Clinton wasn't showing battle plans of attacking Iran to all and sundry.

Jesus it wasn’t even 1 or 2 documents he took home by accident. He was hoarding the entire archive by the looks of it.

And those photos were taken by Trump staff, not the FBI - and it's not all of them. They had to go in multiple rooms there was so much of it. They weren't all filled with classified papers, but still.

Top Tip: Don't take photographs of the crimes you're committing.

That the bloody Clinton email thing never seems to have gone away (despite the fact she was never president) is really telling, it feels like her department was more inept than malicious and got caught out by not following protocol. imagine for a second Clinton had taken boxes and boxes of classified documents as trophies and showing them to all and sundry massively compromising US security, and had lost documents about the US Nuclear strategy and capability. They would be taking to the streets demanding the death penalty for Treason and calling her an enemy of the state.

Trumps missing Nuclear documents is the biggest issue here id say, he's either sold it or its been taken from him, he wouldn't of destroyed it he's far to vain.
