Saturday was the worst day for Jewish people, the most innocents slaughtered, since the last concentration camp in Mauthausen was shut down.Last edited by Protocol Penguin; 10-10-2023, 10:15.

Religion makes everyone so crazy and entitled. So many wars caused and people died in the name of religion.
Religion is the cause of so much death. Or at least used as an excuse to go to war.

Hamas have signed their own death certificates, I hope they realise this. Isreal was founded for one main thing, Jews won’t be pushed around as helpless victims again, whatever is said otherwise, this was the main objective. They have a large standing army of well trained and motivated troops (who are all now VERY motivated), modern equipment that’s well maintained, a modern airforce that comprises of 50 F35’s currently (expanding to 75 soon).
And if Iran get any bright ideas in the coming weeks there’s a full US carrier group watching every grain of sand they have.

Talking of how saturdays attack was Israels 9/11, interesting to find that Hamas was help funded by Israel to counter the secular PLO, much like Al-Queda was funded by the US.
While religion plays a huge part in it all, so does colonisation and it would be unfair to ignore that. The only winners being the hardcore extremists on both sides, with attacks playing into their respective narratives and its business as usual with innocents paying the price

It will be a tense moment in Iran as well, it might be a facade but Khomeini declared three times in the same speech that Iran didn't help Hamas in any capacity.
This attack will also affect diplomatic relations between Israel and other Arab countries, Saudi Arabia was open to normalise relationships with Israel, and with its actions Hamas clearly stated they will attack anyone with ties to Israel.
Right now both sides are trying to annihilate cities with either rockets or airstrikes, and the IDF has laid siege to the Gaza Strip cutting water and electricity. Human rights groups have condemned the action.
I fear this won't stop until one side is annihilated.

There's definitely a no win outcome to this one fairly locked in. Out of the gate you have the literal terrorist atrocities aspects and then the wide conflict as it develops has an overly open mindedness to civilian targets.
Stories like this, that it's not something fuelled by a military aim or political ambition, but instead sheer genocidal ambition. The violence will beget violence so this will run and run and run now. In contrast to the Russia/Ukraine war, it's because of this that I expect the news and political leader cycles will steer away from this conflict fairly quickly and leave them largely to it despite their initial public condemnations. This mornings figures suggest that in Gaza 2/3's of those killed since Saturday are women and children which western leaders will quickly, but quietly aim to distance themselves from. It's a huge shame because the volume of innocents who are going to die is going to be astronomical compared to the numbers of those responsible.
Israel is expected to launch a full scale ground invasion of Gaza within the next few days

Did I get this right?
Hamas made a charter (that one bloke wrote) to state that Palestine is an Islamic State area given to them by god and the ONLY way it can be resolved is through religious war to eradicate the Jewish threat. This is handy as a get out clause for atrocities, because it's god's will. Thus my earlier claim that none of this would have happened without religion.
That charter got rewritten because it was nuts and now just focuses on liberating Palestine and forcing everyone to Islam.
The Jewish response is dictated by god's commandment of an "eye for an eye", so again, religion is bonkers, justifying that if kids in Israel are killed, it's fine to off some in Gaza whilst pretending to hit Hamas targets.
So this will never end unless religion is banned and everyone just carries on about their day without worrying about which god to be a slave to.
