Macron epically corrected trumple yesterday during their meeting about Ukraine, trumple handling it the only way his brain knows how, like a 2 year old.

In two minds about this; obviously any police power increases need great scrutiny - but for things like phones and bikes with GPS's, we're at a point where the theft of these items has been virtually decriminalised as, when they're stolen, most people are just reporting the theft to the police to get a crime number for an insurer. No-one actually expects to get the item back.

That's the weird thing, realistically no-one is still ever going to go and retrieve those phones

Part of me wonders though, if we they get some high profile cases in a few parts of the country, ideally with the phone-snatching scrote being dragged out the house all over YouTube with the bag of phones he screams are all his, if that will just reduce the rate of phone-snatching across the board.

If the Gov got their act together and banned the sale of e-scooters in the first place, thieves wouldn't have completely silent rides that can do 50mph to do these snatches with, they would have to be a lot more conspicuous in their thieving, and a lot slower. You can watch phone thief, dealers round my way literally drive past the police station in a balaclava, do what they want and zip off before an officer can even blink, instant acceleration to 50mph down an alley and disappeared.

I think it was already mentioned before...now to visit the UK and Northern Ireland and you're not a a British or Irish citizen, you either need a visa or apply for an ETA which costs £10 per person aged 10 and up.

O'Leary (Ryanair) made a good point during an interview recently, whilst other countries are stopping airport tax we still have ours. Instead of building another runway at LHR which won't see the light of day for twenty plus years we should be scrapping ours to make an incentive for visitors to come here.

Another Starmer U-turn. Quelle surprise. Can't wait to hear the usual suspects defend it.

I was puzzled a but by the announcement, wasn't it already the plan to raise it to 2.5%? The only bit that seemed new was them cutting Foreign Aid to fund it which is definitely a ****y move.

To give it some context, Starmer is meeting Trump, who is threatening removing US support to NATO if other member countries don't up their spending.

Ultimately, I think Trump will want the US to leave NATO anyway, so beefing up our security is a good idea.
There was a really interesting interview with Stephen Fry on the Sunday politics show where he admits even a leftie like him acknowledges the world has shifted of late and we have to reassess defence expenditure.

Personally, I understand the shifting gears that has prompted this announcement, but totally agree that it's depressing that it's at the expense of foreign aid.

Refuses to tax billionaires properly or reverse Brexit but will deprive the poorest despite promising not to.

                          Starmernomics in full effect.

                          Cretinous.

                            I'm.over here.

We have to spend more on defence. Our advanced jet trainers are nearing end of life and we don't have a replacement as one example. I won't get into an argument with you about it though, we just have different views on this.

Nothing - NOTHING - that you or anybody else says changes the fact that he expressly openly said he wouldn't hit things like foreign aid to do this. You would hammer any Tory PM who did this, but of course Starmer is now getting a pass. Ho hum.

Cannot wait for him to cut public services even more now.
