Sounds like ‘comedian’ turned conspiracy nut Russell Brand has been up to no good, allegedly, as revealed by The Times: https://archive.ph/NwmVQ
(Trigger warning, there’s some horribly graphic descriptions of sexual assault in the article.)

I don't know what's more shocking. Russell Brand being exposed as a wrong 'un in a big weekend media expose

Or that I'm supposed to be surprised by any of it

If you'd have told me a year ago to make a top 3 list of well known comedians I'd expect to see exposed he'd have made it with little umming and aahing. I'm more surprised there's only the one person being outed.

It’s unfortunate but it’s one of those cases where he told us exactly who he was.

Thing is, he's already cancelled mainstream media. What are they gonna do, cancel him back? I wonder if any charges will be brought.

            Bloody hell, what a story.

Probably like yourself we've been to Hiroshima a few times but we went to Nagasaki a few years ago, cripes they don't hold back in their bomb museum, Hiroshima is deffo toned down compared to Nagasaki's.
Surpringly I've been to Hiroshima a few time but never peace park. I have seen the Nagasaki museum though and yeah, it's brutal.
As a kid my grandad would use Japanese words and we always thought he was making them up . He also would tell us how he, a Dutch guy and an American had to clean the train station platform every day. He said he and the Dutch guy were treated fairly while the American got beaten because he couldn't keep his mouth shut.

I wish I knew which station it was. I'd love to visit there even though its obvious it now looks different.

This is the real story (well, no, I mean, to be absolutely clear, the real story is of numerous women who have had their lives ruined by an egotistical wanker) - but that he got away with it for such a long time, despite it supposedly being "an open secret". There have been stories circulating for literally years. When he came out to support #MeToo there were numerous women who called him out, who were shouted down by others.

I've never liked him, because I've always felt he was a contrarian wanker, who got by because he wore leftist concepts like a jacket. Like a champagne socialist, wonky house-of-mirrors reflection of Piers Morgan. But in and around that, I've lost track of the number of times I'd heard about this stuff; then again, this is like being on Reddit and hating James Corden; you've no idea if half the stuff is made up. But critically, I've never met the guy so never had a reason to validate the stories.

Ive not been following him but he's been a bit of a nuisance on social media to a few big mainstream news outlets, and been getting quite a big following. This is just a case of flying to close to the sun and a way to put him back in his box. He may or may not have done these things i don't know (police have said no criminal charges have been brought against him yet) so its all allegations but that's all it needs to be these days, papers get their headlines everyone makes up their mind regarding the outcome and the damage is done.

With Brand I think the first marker for the type of person he was began very early on in his career. The way he presents himself is a manufactured image, I remember it being raised in his early success days because it was such a sudden shift from his dorky normal persona but it wasn't an issue because comedians often have a stage persona to mark themselves out or to back up the jokes they're telling. With Brand though it became obvious he was pushing to pretty much erase his prior self, to convince the world he'd always been the way he appeared and therefore was always the successful individual he was newly known as. Then things escalate and it became obvious he was someone who bought into his own hype, effectively moving from indie comedy darling to trying to present himself as some sort of rock celeb who has never sung a note or touched an instrument.

As soon as the stories about his rampant sleeping around began his card was marked. It's not the sleeping around, it's the manner in which he bragged about it, his growing constant ego, he's a believer in the power of celebrity and the supposed 'rights' it gives someone etc. He's text book for the hallmarks and in the years that have followed he's been called out multiple times and frankly his more recent years have only compounded him in showcasing the kind of person he is. It's perhaps most telling that his denial lacks any real weight to it, it's somewhat Trumpian. The victim of the left wing nonsense, the panicked knee jerk reactionary need to get ahead of the story in such a feeble response.

As for Corden, the guys a resolute ****. There's been enough stories and enough apologies from him when called out for them, as well as his chat show showing enough cracks in his false media veneer to cement the stories about him are on point as well. However, at least with Corden it's just him being an arrogant sod, nothing close to the likes of Brand.

I don't question that Corden might be a prick in real life; there are enough confirmed accounts from people who have worked with him that suggest he's that sort of person. Just Reddit has mythologised the man to an absurd degree. There are these whole stories that get cut-and-paste every time he comes up; I remember one about him being on a plane, and being rude to a woman with a baby, then the realisation that it's his wife and his baby, or something? And I'm just wondering where the hell this came from, other than the collective dislike of Corden. I guess I'm saying that while it's true that I can't watch the guy, and if I see him onscreen I either have to change the channel or leave the room (on a level not disimilar to Mrs. Brown's Boys), it doesn't mean every story about him is true.

I think with Corden it's almost become a passion project for some online. An expectation that he would have come undone by now or his career decline and him go away, but because it hasn't happened the intensity just keeps going up and up because of the perceived level of success in the face of his personality and relative lack of body of work to justify it.

Can we maybe not have the gifs of his smug self-serving face plastered all over the topic? It's bad enough that every article - of which there are many - has us looking at him.
