The party had 407,445 members at the end of 2022, down almost 25,000 compared with 2021, annual accounts show
Labour membership falls though the party income rises. Far as I can tell there's nothing really bad to this news, the peak membership came right in the midst of both parties getting an influx during the Get Brexit Done phase when the GE took place and loads of effort to reverse or defend it was going on so I'd be shocked if people didn't drift away again after

Lib Dems are to table a motion to oust Nadinne Dorries
I mean, Nadine Dorries is being a prick. Everyone can see that. She hasn't functionally taken part in government for ages and she won't step down. She claims she's "working" when asked, but even the Dorries stuff I'm seeing can't even say what she's doing.
But at the same time, allowing MPs to strike off other MPs sets a dangerous precedent. It should be the befordshire voters that "gently but firmly" persuade her to resign. People have complained that Sunak hasn't removed her but, again, we probably don't want to give the PM that kind of power (though he could at least run her out of the Tory party).
I could say something very unkind here, relating to how the news has in the past commented on how she looks at (eugh) Boris Johnson... But nah.

Sunak is pathetically weak for not withdrawing the Conservative whip and everyone knows it. It would have been an easy win for him to do it, but instead he’s just left an open goal for opposition parties to have an easy win to show that he’s a very weak leader. It’s not a problem that was going to go away on its own and he could have sent a powerful message that he’s in control. At best, he looks like a chump who can’t read the room.
