Thanks for asking. I didn’t post since cos it was all so exhausting. I certainly feel better and have done since Bristol and other cities came out and demonstrated their opposition to the racism and violent bigotry. Hopefully we will not see attacks on law firms although it’s important to remember both Citizens Advice and a food bank were burnt down the weekend before last. I’m sure some firms will be on edge and high alert for some time to come.

I checked in with one client who was fearful and she said she’s feeling better. Another was sick and couldn’t come to his appointment, so I don’t know if this was linked to stress. Very disturbingly, I heard that there was an assault on one asylum seeker in Bristol since last week and it’s thought to be linked to the riots.

There were some arrests in Yeovil on Saturday night, near where I grew up, including one who had a knife. But it certainly seems the govt’s tough approach has had the desired effect. It really felt like things were completely out of control for a few days there.

It’s going to take time and lots of kindness to make muslims and asylum seekers feel reassured and safe. The violence and threats will also have a deleterious effect on an already depleted and demoralised immigration legal sector.

If I've learned anything from playing Plague Inc, that won't be enough.

If we have another pandemic, we're screwed because our government pissed away the public's will to go into lockdown when we saw how they flaunted the rules, plus businesses won't want people WFH ever again. Then there's the jab sceptics.

So, basically, nice knowing you, chaps.

The hospitality trade will disappear entirely , most of them are still paying off debts from the last lockdown, then energy costs skyrocketing.

Such a peachy future this country has.

It’s true thing would be very difficult if there’s another pandemic and this will be compounded by a lack of preparedness. We ought to be prepared for either a South Korea- or Australia-style response, to avoid future lockdowns, but we’re not.

Having said that, correct me if wrong, I believe Mpox required close human contact so can’t spread so easily as covid.

Given it hit the news probably summer 2022 and we haven’t had it many times over since then, I think it’s very safe to say it’s not as transmissible as Covid.

According to recent news, a newer airborne strain of M-Pox has since emerged and is driving the growth in cases. It should be mostly mitigated as it's a virus where a vaccine already exists but it underlines the main mistake most nations will make - another Pandemic is a case of when, not if, and they will guaranteed fail to have prepared and we'll be lucky if it's 'only' as deadly as COVID
