    Isn't that an oxymoron?
Lie with passion and be forever damned...

I've lost chunks of a night before through drink, when we where up visiting the sister in law in Norwich we visited some Polish friends of her's for a house party, they where plying me with home made potato vodka that tasted auful but had a massive kick to it. The whole night was a blank after a certain point, I didn't do anything embarrassing though, i just fixed this guys computer by starting it up in safe mode and removing a load of Malware and Virus's "ROCK AND ROLL BABY"

He came round the next day with a pack of beers to say thanks. i couldn't even remember helping him.

I can recall bookends to it. It was in the neighbours house and I was only 16. The woman who lived there had her cousin round who went to the same school and for some reason that I can't recall my parents were fine with me having something to drink. I can only recall having the first drink or so then the rest of the night is 100% absent from memory. The next morning I was told how they'd had to go round for me, change my clothes after I'd thrown up everywhere and sit up with me to make sure I slept safely. My Uncle had dated the neighbour briefly and had a similar experience, my parents feeling that something had been put in my drink to make me that bad. I've never been a major drinker so put it down to that but years later I had a run of years going out at the weekend and I've only been close to that bad once and I can recall hours leading up to it and just how much drink it took so I'm not so sure looking back.

          Concert

Leeds Town and Country Club (It's the 02 academy now) it was to see The Almighty supported by the Wildhearts, first time we went it was canceled, as this was pre internet and in the dark ages of communication the first we knew about it not being on was when we got to the door, it got rescheduled for a few weeks later, the Wildhearts where great, I don't remember much of the almighty.

I tried crowd surfing and i kicked some bloke in the head, 13 year old me then got punched in the face it didn't bother me much and i enjoyed the rest of the gig getting involved in the scrum at the front of the gig and going home sweaty battered and bruised.

It got me addicted to going to see live music though and we went to loads more gigs over the next few years and a far few Music Festivals. Leeds was quite a decent venue for live music, It was a lot easier to get tickets in those days too, Jumbo records had a board with upcoming shows so you'd just wander in their on a Monday morning to see what shows where coming up and buy your tickets their and then.

Most gigs where like a tenner too, i Remember there being a fair few free music festivals too the Heniken festival in Roundhay Park Leeds was pretty crazy, Pulp headlined (they headlined glastonbury this year too) and you also had bands like Skunk Anansie, the Bluetones, Shed Seven and Pop will eat itself. We also went to the Reading Festival in 94-95 too with a really decent line up both those years, Foofighters, Greenday, Cyprus hill, Soundgarden, Red hot Chilli Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, Frank black, Bjork, The Lemon Heads and loads more amazing bands.

The Stone Roses. Ian Brown was ****ing awful and it nearly put me off going to see live music again. I idolised that band when I was young and it kind of shattered the dream a little. Thankfully I persevered and have went on to see hundreds if not thousands of bands in the thirty odd years since. Most of whom had singers who could actually sing!

Ian Brown was the Saturday headliner at a local festival to us, it was one of the worst things Ive seen in a long time, he sacked his band recently so it's just him up their on stage singing to a backing track like the worst karaoke you've ever seen. if id paid to go see him and only him on tour i would of felt robbed.

Near where I grew up there used to be a lot of decent pubs that'd regularly have live music on. Particular shout outs to The Central in Parkstone, and Mr Smiths and The Anvil in Bournemouth - the latter of which is still a great metal pub, if its schedule is anything to go by!

Weirdly passed by loads of stuff at Southampton and the first big show I went to was to see... (lowers voice, checks for anyone taking notes) KoRn at Wembley. It was a bad start as the coach going there was delayed so we had to do a mad dash once we got to London, missing most of the support... Christian-metal sensation P.O.D... and honestly it somehow got worse from there.

After the show we once again rushed back to Victoria, and on arriving we thought we had 10 minutes before our coach - the last of the night - left, only to find it had actually left 20 minutes before its scheduled time. Station staff were useless and we were told to come back in the morning. Cue two 16 year olds with no mobile phones and just enough money to call home and explain what happened then having to wander the streets in search of an all-night coffee spot where we were regularly chastised for not buying anything, and generally looking like a hot mess that were both about to fall asleep. Next morning National Express still refused to take any accountability or help, asking for a full fare we didn't have, so we had to make use of National Rail's "stranded passenger" scheme where one of our parents could pay over the phone remotely. **** you, National Express.

                  That said, KoRn were alright.

Gamma Ray at Rolling Stones in Milan. The opening band was called Panzer-something or something-Panzer, can't quite remember, but I do remember that all members wanted to stagedive at the end of their act and when it was time for the last member, the drummer, everyone in the stage was screaming "no!" because the drummer was as large as the others put together and then some.
He did not quite stagedive, he more of "softly stagelayed to avoid mass injury".

The Gamma Ray part was awesome, especially when they played How Many Tears.

My first proper concert was one for the ages.

Metallica in June of 1993, during their Nowhere Else to Roam tour. Some 50 000 people in attendance at the old Alvalade football stadium in Lisbon. The Cult and Suicidal Tendencies were the opening bands. The temperature was close to 40 ÂșC so the firemen were there hosing the crowd. Still, I remember lots of people fainting and having to be taken away crowd-surfing style. I've never seen so much heroine being smoked before or since.

Miraculously, there's footage of it, even if its quality is understandingly poor.

Still have the t-shirt, which still fits, but it fits the daughter better.

I can't remember the year but it would have been early 2000's, my ex-took a liking to the idea of starting to going to gigs and so began a run of them starting with the very first one at the Manchester Apollo...

This is gonna bring the thread down cant see their being many good stuff to post about funerals

Best friend, through school age 16 got in with wrong crowd, They got him to take the fall for some petty criminal activity they had done, telling him hed get off with a warning as he had had never been in trouble with police before. He was placed in Armley prison in general population on remand to await sentencing. reports into his death said it was most likely suicide as he was bullied and beaten daily and god knows what else. After one nasty incident he was found hung in his cell.

Was so strange saying bye to someone so young lots of people from school came with lots of crying outside the church, despite us being the Bevis and Butthead of our year. Both of us where really into metal and rock music and we'd do doing stupid things like seeing who could put the biggest dents in lockers with our heads. One incident saw us playing Gladiators on this wall by running at each other and seeing who could stay on the wall, Mark knocked this poor lad flying backwards through a window and that put us in detention for a week we really where two idiots in school .
