Great, gay district, red light district, ahh ill fit right in (the red light bit, not the gay bit )

Anyway as an alternative, how about this Tokyo Inn in Shingawa:

Here is the information about Toyoko Inn Tokyo Shinagawa-eki Takanawa-guchi. Book form this official website and get maximum of ¥400 discount!

Bit closer to Akihabra but not as central?

I visited Yodobashi Camera-Akiba on Fri. It's HUGE. I knew it was big but nothing can prepare you for its department store sized proportions. The other shops on the main drag seemed **** in comparison.

Yodobashi is nice but the rest of Aki s better for prices (in many cases) and also often choice. But it is a nice place with some good restaurants actually.

Yeah, the one in Osaka is quite nice too. If you escape from the huge electronic store side of the building, theres some nice fashion stores and restaurants. The place always gave me a headache though!

                  Top recommendation : Komen ramen.

Yes but surely your Yodobashi Camera points wipe out any savings made at other stores, at least on bigger purchases. That aspect always amazes about shopping at places like Bic or Yodobashi. Can you imagine walking into Dixons, spending 1K on a TV and then being give upwards of 100 quid in points to use right there and then. Bic are currently doing a spend at least 1,500GBP and get 20% points. It's madness I tell ya!

Ok i'm heading out for a two week trip in 7 days.

I have a list of things to do, a combination of the usual touristy stuff 'm sure. However this is aimed at people who lived or visited Tokyo before (and im off to Osaka briefly)
Can you list your top 3 things you must do in Tokyo and I can cherry pick any suggestions I may have missed.

Thanks, and if anyone is up for a meet, let me buy you a beer somewhere in Tokyo. Im on my own based in Kabukicho (red light district, typical!) 1st - 5th June. Then my friends arrive on the 5th and we all move into my friends Japanese girlfriends dads apartment! (think I got that right) for the rest of the trip.

                      Cant wait.

I was going to suggest going to see Mt.Fuji but you are off to Osaka so will pass it on the bullet train(?)

Akihabara of course is a must.

A trip to the top of Tokyo Tower at dusk/night.

A cruise along the Sumida river.

A night out at a conveyor belt sushi restaurant.

A one day trip to Kamakura and Enoshima.
