The fact we have to play a good 6 or so games a season against completely unadventurous sides and that we've dropped too many points in these games last season

Don't be so sure that you will be signing Modric.

LOL, yeah, it's outrageous that teams don't play 2-4-4 formation against you, giving it a real go.

Sometimes fans of big clubs need a reality check. Other clubs aren't there soley to do what you want.

Regardless of how I feel about that style of play, doesn't change the fact we need a setup that allows us to carve open a team that tries it.

Going down the middle everytime is too predictable. A wider style of play spreads out the defence and makes them more prone to mistakes

Lukaku and Mata... The future looks promising at Stamford Bridge.

Game was far too tense we made really hard work of it.

Now to wait for news on Drogba. Horrible horrible looking injury.

You lot totally lucked out. Torres should have got a second yellow. Harsh that the keeper was given a straight red. Then on it was game over.

Torres shouldn't have got the first yellow to be honest.

Keeper was lucky play had been stopped otherwise he'd have got a straight red a few minutes earlier for what he did to Drogba.

For what he did to Drogba? You make it sound like he went out to injure him rather than try to clear the ball.
Drogba simply got there first. It much have happen so damn fast, impossible to avoid.

It's a dangerous challenge, just like it doesn't matter if you get the ball in a studs showing tackle. The whistle hadn't gone and there was no doubt the keeper would've walked then. "The other player just got there first" could be applied as a defence for the majority of sending offs anyway.

Apparently there was this exchange in the BBC interview:

bbc: Paul Lambert said ramires dived for the penalty
avb: Paul Lambert has a good imagination. shame he didnt show any imagination on the pitch.

                    Bit of a zing there.

I don't think this is quite the same. When going up with a goalkeeper you will always run the risk of injury. It is head vs fist, it really isn't something I would be doing. On the floor it is a totally different thing to a late tackle.

To me, it feels like you are saying that because Drogba jumped first or or responded faster that the keeper should not have even tried to get the ball.

What Lambert want to worry about more is that we've given away 3 pens in 3 games and had 2 men sent off.
We are defensively naive and need to wise up fast.
Shame as despite my pessimistic outlook the bbc pundits said he were good value for a draw until the 80th min.

Watched it on MotD and it just made me wonder what it is you smoke before you make a post about Chelsea. :P

Sorry, you're the one smoking something.

If play hadn't stopped, that would've been a red card. Drogba gets to the ball first, The keeper only gets a touch afterwards because he went through drogba. Even not taking into account potential violent conduct it was a foul that would've prevented a goal scoring chance.

As it was, play had stopped and the keeper was incredibly lucky as a result.

Your manager said he had no issue with the challenge.

Although from the soundbites I've seen from him so far he seems to be into taking cheap shots at everyone in post match interviews, which is highly entertaining.

When was the last time you saw a red card issued for a challenge like that, ball in play or not?
