Bassong for 8 million is quite amusing. That's most of the Bent money pissed against the wall. The Mags paid, what, £500,000 for him, and he had a half decent season at best? That's almost as ludicrous a piece of business as the Mags paying 8 million for that plank Boumsong after Rangers had got him for nothing a few months earlier.

Bassong may turn into a great defender, but I'll always remember what one of my mates said about him early on last season.

8 million seems a vast sum on an unproven player, though. Almost Keane-esque in transfer fee inflating stupidity.

We paid £8 million for Dean Richards in 2001, £8 million for Kaboul a couple of seasons ago, and now £8 million for Bassong. Considering the rampaging inflation of transfer fees, it's financial genius on our part that we can keep on doing deals for rubbish defenders at 2001 prices Ahem.

It is a lot of money but hopefully he'll be a success and then nobody will remember what the fee was. Although if he is a big hit we'll probably just end up selling him to Man Utd for an even bigger fee!

Chelsea are going after Sergio Agüero as a potential superstar. At 21 he's got a lot of goals behind him but he's gonna be a lot of money.

Kun Aguero is a very good player. Would love to see him in the Premiership - would prefer it if it was at a lower quality team though!

He will pay anything as long as he can skim some out of the deal to line his own pockets. So amazing how people let him do it; have they forgotten he left West Ham with the highest wage bill in the league, bought the FA Cup on a credit card, put Bournemouth in a financial mess from which they never recovered and got us relegated in 20th place? Yet he always comes out smelling of roses. Droopy eyelidded old twunt.

Pleasing bit of business from MagBoss picking up Cattermole for 6 million, after figures above 10 mill were bandied about.

Just need a winger and centre half now. And maybe another forward.
