    GAME January Sales (2010)

Didn't know where else to post, but the usual bargains to be had from GAME in their January sales; Batman for ?19.99 and Prototype for ?17.99.

However be warned 'nabbed FEAR2 on 360 for ?6.98 and it's turned up clearly as ex-display stock. Essentially in bad condition and not sealed. Although this has happened before to me, I'll probably email GAME to let them know I believe they *should* list where stock is in a poor condition.

If it's sold as new I'd be demanding a sealed replacement!

Yea, I might do that, but more importantly I just wanted to flag up (again...) that this is the risk with GAME - that you get grotty stock.

Yeah, although it's something I usually associate with brick and mortar stores to be honest. It's one of the reasons I like buying stuff online!

From time to time you get sent unsealed games from online retailers. It has happened to me before with the likes of play.com, gameplay and Amazon.

They've all been kind enough to issue me a sealed copy or a refund in the past when I got in contact with them about it though. And at no extra (postage) charge, too.

I had a grotty fear 2 from gamestation too. The disk is fine though.

Tbh I was surprised there wasn't a thread for the Game sale becuase there are a few things of interest (i.e. FEAR for under ?7).

But again I just wanted to warn people that clearly there is a risk of 'ex-display' stock turning up. For the money I'm not really that bothered but will pester their CS team becuase it's a simple improvement to their website - and wouldn't have stopped me buying the game.

I've never had a poor copy turn up from Amazon, Play or Gameplay btw.

I usually avoid GAME/Gameplay/Gamestation like the plague for the same reason that most of the time you get some crappy unsealed/ex-display stock that looks like its been bought from a car boot sale.

I did end up ordering some games in their sale though because they were so cheap and its worth taking the chance they'll come new/sealed - if not you can always use their freepost returns label to send their pre-owned.... *cough* I mean ex-display crap back

                    Do Gameplay even have shops?

Sorry to continue taking this further OT but I've never had an issue with Amazon / Play / Gameplay sending me dodgy stock, but it has happened before with Game. Only ordered the once from Gamestation so I can't really comment there.

On topic though, the Game sale pretty much mimics the Gamestation / Gameplay sale plus/minus a few quid in some cases, so it's not too surprising it didn't get it's own thread. Still holding out hopes Zavvi or Amazon or *anyone* does another sale with some different products

Nah, but being the same group as Game, shop stock can end up with them.

I didn't know Gameplay had become part of Game! When did that happen?

Been like that for the last 3 years I think.

Technically GAME became part of Gameplay as they merged them all into one humongous game retailing monster under that main brand.

I call him Gamelor, but they more commonly refer to it as Gameplay (GB) Ltd.

I would demand a new/sealed replacement, as that is what you paid for. My FEAR2 turned up today. It was factory sealed but the disc was loose inside the case. Luckily there were no scratches as if there had been it would've gone straight back for a replacement.

BTW my FEAR2 disc has an Australian Age Certificate on it rating it 'MA 15+', & not the EU PEGi rating. The back of the case next to the barcode says 'Made In EU' & the front of the case has the bbfo Age Certificate on it rating it '18'.

                              Strange?
