Amazon Trade-In

Not sure if everyone's aware, but you can now trade in many games through Amazon.co.uk. I only found out after it was mentioned in passing in Edge magazine.

Not every game in existence is on the list, and they may not necessarily have the best prices, but you can find all that out in advance and then they cover postage. Once it's received and verified, Amazon will credit you with the balance to spend on anything on the site.

Just packaged up 12 games myself. Will let you guys know how I get on.

It's great news as far as I'm concerned because I hate lugging around/hawking around games and I live some distance from the major shops. Best of all I don't have to spend the credit on games!

Nope, it is handled by a third party. Amazon are purely the shop window.

Yeah, I presume it's one of the bigger second hand dealers that are already present on the site.

Just to update you all and say my games were received by Amazon and I was credited my balance this afternoon. From last Wednesday afternoon, when I sent it, to today is not a bad turnaround in my books.

I've now done a couple of trade-ins using this service and have to say I'm impressed.

My last trade was a bundle of games worth approx. £130. Because of the value I decided to send it via courier (had some parcel2go credit to use up) rather than use their free postage option. The parcel was delivered today and they processed my games and credited my Amazon account within a couple of hours of receipt.

Some of the prices are indeed shocking but they do also pay some very good prices too. I got more for each of the games I traded than I would've fetched selling them privately. Couple of examples being FIFA11 (360) for £22.79 and Vanquish (360) for £16.49.

Prices for certain titles can fluctuate quite regularly so it's sometimes worth waiting until you get a price you're happy with e.g. on Friday FIFA 11 was only worth £17.49 but by Sunday it was worth a fiver more.

Definitely a case of being selective about what you trade in but I'd happily use them again.

I've used these too and was quite surprised at the value of certain titles, like you say some are better than eBay prices, and unlike game and all the many other trade in places you can see what your getting upfront.

The Goldeneye CE edition, presumably with classic controller pro they buy for 10, which is 6 quid less than the standard edition
