Please Check with your branch, very few WH Smiths carry 360 Games and my Store Leeds Central were selling them at ?49.99 looks like a pricing mistake in that store. They are doing the pc version for ?32.99

Could be in that case. I was a bit dubious when I went to the till but it rang through no problems. It was the branch at Lakeside for info.

How have people found the lxdirect discounts?

I've heard they charge full price and then refund 14 days later.

Does it create an account with them, credit check, or can you just "Pay & Go?"

I had to create an account, dunno about the credit check! It was the case though that they refunded at a later date than they took the money. Got mine about a week after I received the goods.

I wonder how the refund works with preorders, in particular Gears of War which hasn't had a release date announced yet except Emergence Day 2006?

I've no idea. When I placed my order the confirmation email said 'expected delivery date: 21st March'. I took that as the delivery of the item. What actually happened was that my order came through straight away and the refund was done on that 'expected' date. I imagine that on a pre-order the mentioned date would be left blank so I've no idea about the refund.

They refunded me quite quick about 2 days i think. The refund normally occurs after you're credit card has being charged. With preorders i assume they will not charge until the product is dispatched to you. My stuff arrived within a week so quite quick

I ordered GRAW from LX direct and got it 2 days later. Checked with my Bank a few days later and found out that they charged me full price but then credited me my discount the next day.
