    Itch.io bundle for Ukraine

Will cross-post this elsewhere too, but incredible value for an important cause.

I am aware I'm posting this in the "bargains" sub-forum, but please do take heed of the bit below in bold.

The people of Ukraine are under attack. As game developers we want to create new worlds, not to destroy the one we have. That's why we've banded together to present this charity bundle to help Ukrainians survive this ordeal and thrive after the war ends. This cause has resonated with creators around the globe, to the extent that our bundle contains almost 1,000 games, tabletop RPGs, books, etc.

Over 700 creators have joined in support to donate their work. All proceeds from this bundle will be split between the following charities:
    • International Medical Corps provides medical assistance in the region. They have very low fundraising overhead (1% of income), with 89% of donations going to medical aid and 10% to administration.
    • Voices of Children, a Ukrainian organization that helps children cope with the horrors of war, PTSD, readjusting to school, and getting back to being kids. They have also been doing a lot of grassroots impromptu work during the war, such as helping set up shelters. Our hope is that this war will be over soon, and they can begin the work of healing these kids' hearts.

Of these nearly 1,000 products, more than 600 have never been in a major bundle before. Several prominent developers and publishers signed up to itch.io specifically to be in this bundle. And there's something for everyone - we have almost 600 digital video games, over 300 analog tabletop RPGs, and dozens of asset packs, books, zines, and comics, soundtracks/music, and a host of other products. Also unique to this bundle, we only allowed paid products.

We kept the minimum low, but we highly urge you to pay above the minimum if you can afford to do so. All proceeds will be split between the charities 50/50.

We stand with Ukrainians, and with all people around the world who despise war.

    Thank you.

Just want to say that I've been in contact with the people who arranged all this; they've worked really quickly and done a fantastic job. This is a great deal and a good way to donate to these causes.

Okay, so I've bought this as it's such a bargain and a great cause.

However, anyone got any steerage on some good games to play as nearly 1000 games is a little overwhelming!

I've played Superhot and Superhexagon, but I don't recognise a lot of the others.

This won't help much with your question but those that excite me the most are the tabletop pen-and-paper little curios such as UMBRA, DELVE, Recipe on Kmiydish Paper or Loot the Plutes.

Things I have played already and recommend:

CrossCode - Top-down action RPG aping an MMO; very big and quite tough in places but often fun too
SUPERHOT - smart and stylish FPS with more of a puzzle / tactical approach than pure action
2064: Read Only Memories - really neat cyberpunk-y adventure game, think a modern indie Snatcher
Celeste - very good platformer. I need to play this more myself.
Baba is You - ANNOYINGLY clever puzzle game where you tinker with game mechanics
A Short Hike - only a couple of hours long but just DELIGHTFUL. A glorious, charming, palate cleanser of a game about going to an Island, meeting some folks, and climbing a mountain
Towerfall - single-screen platform-y type thing... think Bubble Bobble, but up to 4 players?
Minit - compact and charming RPG where you die every 60 seconds. Sounds gimmicky, is great.
Super Hexagon - arcade-style action game majesty with excellent bleepy-bloopy soundtrack. Takes seconds to get its hooks in.

Things I'd like to get around to:

SkateBird - Possibly a little janky, but a fun take on the Hawk games. See what I did there?
Backbone - meant to be a decent story-based adventure
Sundered - ancient eldritch Metroidvania? Yes.
            Jotun - Norse action-adventure thing
Arcade Spirits - a visual novel about arcade dorks. Also yes.

Crucially I feel you also need to check out Chimpology.

Really looking forward to finally trying Zero Ranger, nice looking shmup.

I have Fatum Betula on Switch and it is a very obtuse PS1 looking walking sim/puzzle game. I ended up not enjoying it as I felt like it aggressively didn't want me to understand what I was supposed to do but it sure try doing a thing and is worth a quick look.

You can also read my words in the Paradise Killer artbook heh heh heh.
