The bloke is clearly a moron. I'd give the game an 8 minimum.

        Yes and No.

The bloke isn't a moron (It's me). The game deserves an 8.

I expect that score was a mistake from the website migration myself, it doesnt read like a 6 to me, might be worth PMing charlesr and suggesting it be altered perhaps.

Yeah Doshin is a fantastic game, and one of the first I bought for my GC, definately deserves an 8!

Probably way too many to list!

Some ones that were particularly out of line with my experiences:

Dead or Alive Volleyball - I'd of scored this 1 or 2 out of 10 at most.

Ninja Gaiden - An excercise in frustration and annoyance. Horrible game!

Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3 - Horribly over-rated games with primative play mechanics, terrible cameras, and impossibly pretentious storylines.

              And on the other side...

PN03 - Awesome old school shooter which deserved to do so much better.

OutRun 2 - Quite simply one of the best games I have ever played. The review on this very site was ridiculous.

Panzer Dragoon Orta - It got 'decent' reviews, but it's 10/10 for me. Amazing game. Possibly THE best game this gen. (for me anyway)

dragonball z budokai 1 2 3 i see on gamefaqs many high ratings and to be honest i felt the fighting was just to basic and having played rumble fish dimps are capable of a more in depth fighting game.it just felt like the people reviewing were more dragonball fans than fighting game fans

If the review reads like an 8 then it's certainly fair that the score reflect that. On the other hand, I couldn't get along with Doshin at all. Something about the controls just completely put me off, and it's barely been touched since I bought it.

As for other reviews I've disagreed with, apart from the obvious "OutRun 2 is ****, because it doesn't have 700 cars like Gran Turismo", "Drivthreer is amazing, because a big brown envelope full of cash told me so" ones that so many mainstream mags published last year, they're mostly down to personal preference. So anything that gives a good score to a Final Fantasy-style game because I don't have the time any more, anything that marks down games for being "fun but too short" for the same reason and so on.

To be honest, I usually don't find reviews memorable enough to whinge about them after about five minutes.

metal gear solid 2 and 3 are probably my biggest gripes the fact is with them two games so many sites/mags overated it

HALO II- Way overrated in the press, the single player mode and more so the AI pales to that of the 1st game. OXB score, just took the royal piss (Is ace in multi Player mode though).

Riddick- Should have got a 9 or even 10, best fps I've played this gem.

ORTA- Best far the best looking and playing game this gen. EDGE review (7) was an absolute disgrace (difficult controls my ASS!)If any game is worty of a 10 then this is it.

Mercenaries- How did this score so well ? Its average at best.

ICO- Yet another EDGE **** up, this is 10 game all the way.

SpikeOut- Its by no means perfect but its much better those the scoes it got. By far the best 3D fighter out there (and the only one that works in 3D). And in LIVE mode its top fun.

Colin McRae 5. This is terrible, with pants handling and rubbish track layouts (part 4 is miles better) Yet it got top reviews.

GT 5- It does nothing new, the AI and racing is as dull as ever. Yet it gets some top reviews. TOCA on the PS is more of driving sim that this load of rubbish.

I remember when Little Big Adventure first came out, PC Format only gave it about 60% but I was completely hooked when I played it - It was one of the best games I ever played at the time.

I really like Orta, but the whole speed-up slow-down thing was a touch fiddly at times I thought. But then I went in expecting "Rez with Dragons", so the fact that there was a lot more complexity than I wanted is almost certainly my own fault.

In terms of atmosphere, characterisation and plot I'd definitely agree. But the puzzles just felt alternatively illogical on the one hand and obvious but too fiddly on the other. I'm definitely in the camp that just doesn't 'get' Ico. Not from a point where I don't understand why people love it, but simply that getting anywhere requires a way of thinking I couldn't get into. I think it's partly the locked-off camera position; I could only judge where I could and couldn't get to by trial and error a lot of the time, so I would miss "obvious" jumps you needed to get places.
