An observation I made which shows the amount of detail in San Andreas is leaving CJ alone. When you move him again, he'll briefly sing to himself, and I think whichever is your most (or last) listened to station, is the tune's lyric that gets recited.
Apart from that and having a stint on the bookies, I've been buying more houses in backwater towns and next to a beach on my return to Los Santos.
Whilst buying my new house I also bumped into a girl called Helena at the firing range who is now CJ's new girlfriend. It kind of reminded me of Shenmue when Nozomi rings up one time... Although the experience was linear, the spontaneity (or the implied case of it) was impressive. This has been echoed slightly in terms of San Andreas' romance scenario/s.
On a different issue... Another thing which Rockstar North has tightened up are things disappearing as soon as you turn your back on them. I've managed to go fair distances away when I've been knocked off my bike and been able to retreive it. Same goes for car chases.
