Fair enough, but it seems to me from what people are saying that in the two years dev time, they haven't ironed out the flaws (camera and controls being the main two cited here) that were inherent in GTA3/VC. I think that is what is annoying most people.

If people are annoyed by those flaws then they've set out looking for a reason not to enjoy the game, in my opinion.. and also they should have known what to expect so why get it in the first place??

Stop ****ing whinging you miserable ilk of ****wits.

It does exactly what it says on the tin, what did you expect. It's what i expected, I'm pleased with it.

Hmmmm, I can't help but think that if it was only available on import for a month or so, a lot of people would change their tune, as they'd be rather "special" for getting it before the masses.

          Special ****ing needs more like....

Hang on, I would never buy a game just to find fault with it. I'd be surprised if anyone did. I would expect, though, that in the two years, the most common complaints with the previous games - the camera, the controls and the gun fights - would have been addressed. I would expect this upon buying it. If they had not been fixed, I feel I would be justified in being annoyed that they hadn't fixed the glaring problems with the last two games. I don't see how this is going out to find fault. If the fault is there, in really what are the main areas of the game (a problem with the controls and the camera would be a hard problem not to spot seeing as that is how you interact with the game world in front of you), I would say that people are quite right to feel agrieved.

Well I wouldn't. If the basic controls and camera annoyed you in GTAIII, you wouldn't have bought Vice City. If it annoyed you that they were the same in Vice City, you wouldn't have bought San Andreas.

If it made no difference to your enjoyment of the game then you're unlikely to be bringing it up and purely focusing on the negatives in this fantastic game. By the way, the gun fights *have* changed.

                Totally agree with you.

Surely a game with faults such as these would not be getting scores of 9.9/10

The fact is your enjoying the game, all is cool and then the camera or the targetting goes crazy, makes it fustrating to say the least.

Also how about a retry on the missions, when you fail and especially die you have to go back and get the mission and do it all over again.

I was willing to cut GTA3 some slack as it was the first game of it's kind (barring Driver 2) and thus I could handle that it may have problems but that these would get addressed in sequels. Now here we are, 3 years down the line, and still the same problems are there. And I know the gunfights have been improved slightly, but I know they are not up the quality of Manhunt, and seeing as that came from the same Devco, that surprises me somewhat.

Nice one man, I always have to change the settings for that and if its not possible I'll have to try and have a hands on before I buy. That would bug the hell out of me

Lets face it GTA is utterly ****. But is the best game of its type when stacked up against The Getaway and Driver 3

See, that's the problem. It's clearly not ****. It's clearly excellent...it's just let down by some dodgy difficulty spikes (VC especially) and some ropey controls. In design and atmosphere it's brilliant. It's just a shame that it seems to be a victim of it's own success. Why bother to fix the faults when they know it's gonna sell through the stratosphere?

Steady there! GTA isn't **** in the slightest, just not the greatest thing ever like some magazines make out.

It was always going to be more of the same, just like Halo 2 will be more of the same and Half Life 2 will be more of the same. If it wasn't, then it wouldn't really be a sequel*

                          * though, obviously, this isn't a fool-proof thing to say

What are you talking about? The only reason that was mentioned was when the ludicrous 100%, 99% The Best Game Ever! reviews were being discussed.

I'm sure GTA SA will be a lot of fun, most people here understand that GTA:SA as part of a series won't be hugely different from the previous games.

Ive never been able to get into GTA games until I sat down with SA, and have to say Ive quickly become hooked. Its astonishing that a city this lifelike has been created, and the scale of the game is magnificent. Being able to attack the game from a variety of different ways and its open-ended approach is refreshing. Love the setting, constantly cracking up at the homies talk, and the music is spot on too. Shaping up to be one of my favourite titles of the year so far, and Im only about an hour in.

Yeah but mezzanine the previous games were also extremely highly rated, and justifiably so.
