Since the initial thread was removed as it didn't "qualify the critera set for first play impressions", I thought I would start a new one.
Ive decided to be detailed in my first play in order to satisfy all the demands set onto a poster by the site, and to comply with the site rules so here goes.
1. Got the game at 09.45, in a silver envelope from Gameplay.
2. Placed the game into my Silver PS2 unit, which I got to replace the goosed Chipped Aqua one last week.
3. Was welcomed by the familiar PS2 logo, which was followed by the Rockstar Games, and Rockstar North icons being sprayed onto the screen.
4. The game begins proper, again like GTA3, and VC the game opens up straight away. Note in order for the first play to commence, I had picked up my joypad.
5. The introduction of the game is good, I didnt realise Samuel L was part of the voice actors of the game. It sets the basic scene, and the thin story behind the game.
6. After this point you are in completely familar territory and if you have played gta3, or vc then you will have no problems settling down to the action.
7. The "RPG" system is slowly introduced via cell phone calls which suggest u go to the gym, buy new clothes etc to improve ur standing in the hood.
8. The gym works pretty well, and u can change the build of ur character, once you have reached a certain level the opportunity to learn new moves opens up.
9. The remainder of the time playing was spent on motorbikes, cars, and doing the first series of basic missions.
As I said in the original thread if you like the previous two ps2 games then you will like this. The rpg element is new, but its too early to see how it actually influences the gameplay.
The setting is hard to relate to, as it is very much gangsta LA of the 90s. Again as I said in the other thread it is slightly off putting, as the characters are hard to "warm" too. Also it at times is very hard to understand what they are saying due to the "cool" gangsta style of conversation, and overall culture.
