      I am also loving it.

Vice City was great, and I loved every minuite of the 20odd hours I put into the game, but I always found the missions slightly boring, especialy a second time around, not that the missions in San Andreas are any more intresting (but they are fresh).

The main appeal of San Andreas for me is the way it makes me feel the character has a purpose outside of the games missions. In Vice City other than doing missions it was the same old; rampage, collect hidden icons, or compete in the races, and they never really appealed to me. Vice City seemed to loose its magic once the story had finished. San Andreas on the other hand, keeps you busy inbetween missions, if its not your girlfriend phoning you, to bitch and moan, its the map telling you an area or your hood is under attack.

The game has some nice new touches, like the "mission journey skip thingy" allowing you to skip those boring journeys inbetween already attempted missions, and the gang system, so can tell my gang members to follow me around, although it is irritating when they just fire freely out of your car at any rival gang members without warning. I am also feeling the love the clothes and hair customisation, and the silenced 9mm.

All in all its great so far, and I cant wait to see how the story will carry me to the other cities, maybe there a big things in store for carl, but who knows.

Btw, anyone notice when they go really fast in a car, someimtes the level textures struggle to keep up, and you find yourself traveling through a strange blur of plain coloured shapes??

I've just watched that video too. It makes me want it more! Anyone know if Blockbuster have it on rental, and plenty of copies aswell?!

I never said it was GTA4, I was referring to the potential for a completely new game for the next one.

GTA for me is turning into Pokemon or Fifa. Release the same game each year, with a new lick of paint. Problem is the core game isn't even all that good imo.

If they could marry the concepts of GTA3 with those in the XBox game Breakdown, then I think that could be something very special indeed.

This game should get an award for worst camera and control in a game ever.

Its worse than the previous games.

Yeah when your next to a wall or something the cmaera just zooms in at your body and you can't see around you.

I thought the controls were a little bad at first (I used the d-pad for the previous GTAs - this isn't an option on SA) but I'm getting used tot he dual shock.

I think this game will be really good on the Xbox though.

Does it really make any difference whether the title has a subtitle or a number? I guess it should be exempt from criticism then, as it's 'only' a spin off rather than a true sequel.

I just dont think the PS2 is up to the job for the ideas and scope that Rockstar are trying to give the GTA series

This is not a dig at the PS2 just my honest opinion

I'm hoping they take the next one in a new direction instead of just reskinning the old game. Jump from GTA2 to GTA3 was a huge one. Something of that magnitude is required to restore any faith I had.

Expect a move to first person for GTA4.
                        Wow. Revolutionary!

The only thing that is annoying me atm about it is the camera. I`m used to pressing right for the camera to go right and left for the camera to go left. But it`s inverted here and keep constantly pressing the wrong way. There is an option to turn invert of but thats for only up and down not left and right. arhhh.

                            Same here.

When i get out of a car and need to move the camera i always go all over the place, especially annoying when you need to get out a car and start shooting, by the time u got the camera sorted you have failed the mission.

Errr... why not? What does it try to do in San Andreas that it doesn't succeed in doing?

And how is the X-box version going to resolve all your camera complaints and miraculously become a 'really good' game when you've already stated your opinion?

Balls being spoken again, by the sounds of it.

edit - response to the person who said the PS2 wasn't up to the job

Surely that would depend on the criticism. "It's the same game with new bits, waaah" is a load of bollocks really... it was hardly going to be heavily inspired by Bubble Bobble this time around.

And like was already pointed out, I bet the same criticisms aren't levelled against Halo 2 etc.
