Originally posted by ConceptI've encountered what I would consider as the first real missed opportunity in this game. When I eventually arrived in San Fierro with the Truth, I took a wander around. I'd been really looking forward to boarding a cable car and taking a tour of the city or jacking one.
But I've followed one around for ages and they never seem to stop or allow you to board in any way.
Anyone managed to get on one?

Now I know how it feels to be a gambling addict...
I fluked a $10,000 bet on a purple horse 9-1 earlier in the game which allowed me to buy up some properties and not worry about clothing, hair, food and weapon essentials.

On a more positive note, I stumbled upon a courier motorcycle (similar to the Pizza delivery service in Vice City) and when I completed it, I was surprisingly given the shop it was from. Which is now making money for me.
Also, anyone been to the martial arts Dojo in San Fierro? I learnt some new funky moves I've been practicising on passerbys (especially enjoyed the sadistically nasty running high-kick).
A nice little touch is that in San Fierro the people walking around there are all busy slagging off the folks from Los Santos. I liked that.
Anyone played the bee arcade game? It's addictive but I can't get past level 4.

Haha it's the only minigame I really liked as well. Think I'm very close to leaving Los Santos and after twenty hours it might be about time. The city is starting to become familiar, something I thought would never happen. Fended off a couple off territories with the help of my new girlfriend and it's very satisfying to hear the radio report on our progress. Taking over is like hard work though, but very fun to do.
Funny thing is that I haven't even been pimpin' yet or did half the cool stuff you guys mentioned.

I just broke into Los Santos airport. When I intially visited near the beginning I was told I needed a licence to enter, and I couldn't jump over the wall.
Just tried jumping on top of a car to climb over and it worked.
I love the way this game rewards exploration. Especially now that I've encountered my first Jet in the form of a shamal. It controls beautifully and I don't think there's a much more awe-inspiring sight than using the cinematic camera angle, while at sunset flying thousands of feet up with a jet. Another impressive thing is that going off the edge of the map doesn't lead to it doubling back up on itself. The ocean just seems to keep on going.
Damn... With the exception of ICO, this is turning into one of my favourite games of the current generation.

The view turns to overhead and you just get to run about shooting people. The second player cannot get in any vehicles and both players cannot move that far apart, however it is fairly amusing for a while. Extremely limited (if player 2 dies the game just continues as normal), but as a silly bonus it's pretty good.
I'm on the second area now, and I keep on getting lost. Somehow I ended up dieing from falling off a cliff and ending back up at the Market Hospital in the first area of the game, which is miiiiles away from where I need to be. Bah!
I really like the complete change of pace though when you leave the first area, it just feels so...open. I spend half the time just waiting for a dirt bike to bomb about the countryside

The countryside area (badlands) in San Fierro is absolutely vast. But there's a beautiful secluded lake spot in the middle of a forest. If you can find it, wait for sunset or sunrise. When the suns shines through the trees onto the water, and as the lighting changes, the view is luscious beyond belief.
Oh, and if you can locate them, there's a quad bike and BF Injection near your intial first save point in the badlands. They're absolutely awesome to take off-road and do a bit of exploring. The farms dotted around contain some rather excellent goodies and weapons.Last edited by Concept; 02-11-2004, 20:53.

677,000 sales already in the UK alone. That's a hell of a lot of sales.
