played this for a few hours.....excellent! graphics aren't that much better if at all than the first, but then the fist ones were excellent, the music is emense.

need to clear some time at the weekend to really get into it. but so far so good.

the big improvement is the dual weapons you can reall kick ass!!!! but depending how your control is you cant jump when you have 2 guns,,,, (i use left stick for looking, right for strafing).

just read a detailed and very believable review (http://www2.lawrence.com/news/2004/nov/08/halo2/) which says that the physics were a step back from Halo 1. grenades and rockets would lack some punch and blast radius. and regarding the AI it's said that it was possible to throw a grenades to the feet of an enemy and he would simply stand there and die - even on legendary! also the enemy's interest in killing you was limited to zones!

        boahh, that sounds really scary!!!

Why are you always so negative? Stop being hung up on minor things that aren't 100% to your taste and get ready to enjoy the game. It will have faults and it won't be perfect. Nothing ever is.

must have a dogy copy of halo2 (not as in fake) as i throw grenades and have to stand well back, and if they hit an enemy and stick to him they would run after me! (not every time but pretty often)

Maybe the reviewer is reffering to sometimes when you go into a new area and the enemy has not seen you its quite easy to lob a plasma granade at the enemys feet without him noticing. I dont think its a problem though. If he has spotted you or the grenade he will dive out of the way or if you hit him with a plasma grenade and you are close they will do a kamikaze run at you and try and take you out.

i dont think they are alot more powerful than normal plasmas

they are a little bit but not much more and they suffer the same problem from overheating

i prefer the beam rifle to the sniper rifle

and the plasma sword is the business especially when you use the optic camoflage

The sword really does some damage on the multiplayer, although I am guessing on LIVE everyone will be going after the guy with the sword so I am keeping that tactic locked away for LAN games or 4 player games.

i prefer the beam rifle to the sniper rifle
Do you mean the rifle that fires green beams or the alien sniper? I prefer the alien sniper to the human one, I think it could be the fact that you kill people with a burst of pink

A few things from the online part from my friend in the states...

                        Tony Blair says:
Training mode is the only unranked mode, so it is the only mode you can play with guests.
You cannot play unranked games with your friends, only ranked. Unless they are on the same box as you.
                        Tony Blair says:
                        Ranked games=with friends
                        training mode= without friends
                        The Cobra says:
Ok, but, you cant decide the level etc? It has to be of MSs choosing? So what if you want a match, just from your frieds list?
                        Tony Blair says:
the only mode you do not choose a level on is training mode.
                        Tony Blair says:
because it assigns everything for you

I thought that if you played Ranked games you couldn't play with your friends as it sorted them for you. Weird, obviously wrong then.

I'm up to Uprising on Legendary already.

It's all a bit easy, and the levels are still grossly repetitive if you ask me.

Had a quick do on co-op Legendary and that was much, much harder - I kept running out of ammo.

Multiplayer is worth ?100 alone (if it did cost that much). Probably could do with more levels although the ones that are in all seem to be class so far - waterworks could possibly beat Complex from GE/PD" as being the best MP level ever - and that's coming from a PD" fanboi.

Gotta love the new Steve Vai Bungie intro music.

It's too bad you can't combo with the plasma sword, like lock on, thrust forward, lock on again to next target during pose phase, thrust AGAIN, repeat... That would have ruled. Oh well.

no the one that fires teh green rounds

you can only fire 3 shots before it over heats but it does some serious damage, around 3 shots can take down one of the brutes

im loving the new tighter vehicals, the added bonus of powersliding is genius.

Oh, and the physics are much better. Watching bodies collapse is incredibly satisfying, expecially the over dramatic dive the grunts take. Then their bodies on the floor rock back and forth ever so slightly.

****ing amazing stuff. Bungie are gods

Yeah I found that was pretty good in 4 player multiplayer, however you need to a crack shot to have any luck. Which of course I am

Just found some other info that sounds quite fun, maybe there can be a topic in the online gaming forum:

An extra bonus for registered Bungie.net members is the ability to subscribe to an RSS feed for your personal stats. RSS is way of getting news or headlines from web sites in a format that's readable by special RSS reader software. For Bungie.Net, you can subscribe to your very own RSS feed that gives you an up to date listing of all the Halo 2 games you've played in on Xbox Live. To get this functionality, you need to first link your Gamertag. Then go to your "My Stats" page and look for the orange "XML" icon. That's the link to your RSS feed. You probably need a RSS reader to get any value out of this so go to your favorite search engine, get one, then follow the instructions provided by the reader.

In Bungie.Net, you will only be able to view your own RSS feed. However, we encourage you to share this link with others so that they too can watch your Halo 2 career.

Not sure exactly how you do this yet but I am looking into it, and no doubt some smarty pants on here will know.
