My only criticism would be that you didn?t give the weak points enough attention, if I remember it correctly.
In my view, the review is written just a little too positive.

im not buying it. We didnt really need a whole game based on the legacy (patriots) or how they were formed. 1 cutscene could have easily sumed it up.
I know that Big Boss defects and becomes a bad guy now that he knows the truth about The Boss and how the government used him as a puppet. But still, im more interested in Snakes story, has he found out about the patriots? Are they alive or is it just their image that lives on? Who's really pulling the strings behind the scenes, what about Ocelot and his hand? Does Liquid still posses him etc
Just imagine if the game ended with Snake outside a building that housed the Patiots.
Ocelot being American was the big surprise for me. But we always knew he had a special relationship with the US.
imo MGS > MGS3 > MGS2
All ****ing superb games, but please, i want to play as Snake ;_;Last edited by Prine; 22-12-2004, 15:16.

Apparrently, in MGS2,
Plisken was supposed to have bleached blond hair and longer hair at that (to make him resemble Liquid obviously). The Document of MGS2 has loads of stuff that should have happened in the finished product. The script is a real good read, especially the bits about Solidus constantly trying to imitate Big Boss (when his eye gets ****ed in the harrier, he's actually supposed to look ecstatic that he lost it). It also tries to get across that Ocelot isn't your average 60 year old, saying how superhumanly agile and quick he is for his age.

I got the game today after hearing all the glowing comments. God how I hate this series - I think I played for about 2 minutes yet was subjected to 30 minutes of poorly acted, over blown and generally boring cutscenes. Im gonna stick at it a bit but if the ratio stays the same I can't see me completing the title. By the way I realise I haven't given the game enough time yet so my comments are merely first impression gripes that I hope will change over time.
One thing that did puzzle me was:
when I saved the game the woman mentioned the Godzilla movies and that there was an American version. Now this game is set way before the American version was released. Isn't that just incredibly lazy or was there another US Zilla movie released before the 90s?
The camera still kind of sucks as well.

Yep. To further that, it's not all first-person or:
A) it'd just be an FPS
B) How could you judge your footfalls and relative positions around multitudes of guards in first-person?
C) If you think 3rd-person is bad, how would you improve it?
Yeah I did read your review but you said the acting was better - you lied.
Well, I like it!

The trick with liking the MGS series is not taking it too seriously, because it certainly doesn't itself. I can't think of any other game that is so pompous, overblown and full of itself, but is also aware of how ridiculous it all is at the same time.
And it's a funny game too. I mean, how can you not laugh at Ocelot juggling his revolvers for ages before shooting someone? Cracks me up every time.

Is there any way to fix the audio stutters during the codec calls? I've read that it might be a disk master error, but there are lots of people who don't get the stuttering.
As it is now the sound stutters 4-5 times EVERY time I try to call someone on the codec. I don't have a HDLoader and the PS2 lense does not need a cleaning, so I'm all out of ideas.
